Today, scholars of the Latin Bible remember the death of Jerome. He was not the first to translate the Bible into Latin and not all parts of the Vulgate must be identified as his work but his efforts to translate and explain the Bible into Latin had a lasting influence on Western Christianity.

It was a great honour to have been invited to contribute to the "Festschrift" to celebrate the 100. birthday of Robert Hanhart. It was a welcome opportunity to reflect more intensively on the different versions and the complex history of the Latin Psalter. #LatinBible #Septuagint

The textual criticism seminar continued with productive discussions on electronic editing methods and standards. I was delighted to chair Anna Persig's (KU Leuven) excellent short paper on the Vetus Latina edition of 1 Corinthians - it was a pleasure and honor to chair that fantastic paper.
SNTS 2025 Regensburg - Day 4: Main papers explored the relationship between God's assembly and civic assembly in interpreting 1 Corinthians, and examined Romans 1:16f from the perspective of inscriptional evidence.

Where it all started. Behind this door at Regensburg University, I attended my first New Testament lecture - Georg Schmuttermayr's "Introduction to the New Testament." About 300 students in that hall, and I had no idea how that first lecture would shape my entire academic path.
The day concluded with a dinner to celebrate 75 years of "Wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen zum Neuen Testament" (WUNT). Grateful for these scholarly exchanges and the opportunity to contribute to ongoing biblical research.
I am thankful that I had the honor to contribute to the simultaneous short papers and that I could present my thoughts on "Women at the Lord's Table: New Testament Evidence and Ancient Convention."
79th General Meeting of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas in Regensburg. Day 2: presidential address, main papers on Galatians and Matthews, a presentation with response on commentary manuscripts in the seminar on New Testament textual criticism.

Happy to share this great view of one of Germany's most beautiful cities. Always good to return to the place where I completed my studies in Catholic Theology. On this occasion I gratefully remember my teachers, especially the late professors Georg Schmuttermayr and Norbert Brox.
Arrived in Regensburg for the General Meeting of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas / Society for New Testament Studies (SNTS), which starts tomorrow. Looking forward to interesting papers, talks, and conversations. Good to be here.

To all celebrating Saint Benedict today - abbot of Monte Cassino, Father of Western monasticism, and patron saint of Europe. … Gregory the Great's Dialogues reveal a man unafraid of the powerful, who dared to speak truth to authority. A timeless example of courage and conviction.
