In 1873, a doctor was traveling from Iowa to Cherryvale, Kansas, but never arrived. He was last seen in an inn outside of town, but when the authorities went to check, what they found turned out to be one of the greatest, most gruesome mysteries of the Old West to this day.
If you went to a saloon in the Old West and ordered whiskey, you probably got a glass of raw alcohol mixed with burnt sugar and chewing tobacco juice. Whiskey could also be alcohol diluted with ammonia, gun powder, turpentine, sulphuric acid, & occasionally spiced up with rattlesnake heads. CHEERS!

Jack: If you were a miner or a sailor or a traveler in San Francisco & could pay for female companionship, or just wanted some really low-brow entertainment, the Barbary Coast is where you’d go.
Susan: Hahaha You’d be like, You know what I’m in the mood for, honey? Really low-brow entertainment.
In the 1840s if a man wanted to head west, his wife had to go with him whether she wanted to or not. The journey to Oregon was a true test for any woman & most women of that day did what their husbands told them to do. But not everybody. This story’s called ELIZABETH MARKHAM SAYS “THE HELL WITH IT”.
The Texas state police led by Jack Helm arrested 2 sons-in-law of Pipkin Taylor — a pair of brothers named Henry & William Kelly. It was for a trivial charge but the wife of Henry Kelly had a bad feeling & followed at a distance. She was an eyewitness to them being marched down the road & shot.
Susan: In addition to all of this, you could only take about three sets of clothing that you’d have to wear and struggle to find a place to wash for the entire six months.

Jack: Does that include undergarments?

Susan: Yes.

San Francisco had been a sleepy little town of less than 500 people. But during the Gold Rush of 1849, the population exploded with folks looking to dig up a fortune in gold. But there were other ways to make quick money in San Francisco in this period — like in the Barbary Coast.

April 1866. Wells Fargo delivered an unmarked crate to their offices in downtown San Francisco. It was leaking, so a few curious workers opened the crate to see what was going on. Unfortunately, they found it was leaking NITROGLYCERIN. This story is called BOOM JUICE. LINK IN BIO.
He found a corpse and it had a gun in a pocket, so he fined the corpse $40 for carrying it concealed weapon — which is the exact amount he found on the body.
