I think a lot of people here in Lincs still class all the Eastern Europeans as coming over taking all their jobs in the past 20 years! Nothing to stop the locals doing those jobs though!

Haha I was going to say the same! Bit worrying he doesn't know how things get built really!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
I bet you can still recall the smell aswell?! It's pretty memorable isn't it!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
Exactly! Don't expect us to make money from growing crops surely! Problem is most of my land is tenanted and what is tenanted is owned by a very important man with a crown! I'm not sure he'd let me do it!

I've got grade A land in Lincolnshire that I wish I could regrade to put panels on!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
Most of the people complaining about them are probably actually those that have moved up from the south for the cheaper housing of Lincolnshire aswell!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
Who would want to work for her anyway!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
Ah I see my 'friend' at the front! The councillor who has been in about 4 different parties and had a major road rage at me once! Best mates we are!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
That's been shut over 30 years hasn't it! All ours goes to Wissington in Norfolk. Got a decision to make whether it's worth it to keep growing it to be honest

It's not really a sheep area traditionally. We have someone keep some sheep a few weeks of the year every so often on the cauliflower land as a kind of mutual thing. I'm not entirely sure the sheep industry is in a great place anyway.
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
Not for much longer! It's not worth growing the bl**dy stuff anymore!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
You can't be far from me then! Want to borrow some waders?!! I emailed our Mayor months ago about it bit no reply or visit!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
Potatoes were good money in the 80s and 90s in Lincs! Not so much now!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
I emailed the new appointed mayor when she got the job inviting her to the South of the county to look at flood measures, drainage & farmland..no reply and no visit!

Proper Autumn morning today in Lincolnshire. At least now the sun is peaking through!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
She's probably going to use some tax payers money to pay someone to do that now!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
We didn't all vote that way! In fact after we got Miss Dark Overlord as our unfortunate Mayor I emailed inviting her to South Lincolnshire to have a look at the current state of drainage, flood protection & farming but surprisingly she never replied!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
She can't even find South Lincolnshire let alone sort it!!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
We haven't grown potatoes for over 20 years but my dad will remember harvesting them like this. We still have a lot of the red plastic hand baskets in a shed. There's one hanging off the daffodil harvester but never used!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
Haha we've got 4 ducks (locally sourced.....!) in the freezer. Some pheasants on the way soon aswell!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
My back is hurting just looking at this!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
I'm convinced I'm the only lib dem voter in the south of the county!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
Ffs it's high enough as it is here!
thesecretfarmer.bsky.social
I think they are still at Coningsby and Leeming aren't they?
