Hajime Sato's 'The Golden Bat' (1966)

Evil will always fall to the might of a laughing skeleton who runs around, smacking people with a stick.

Zach Cregger's 'Barbarian' (2022)

Least sketchy airbnb.

Jack Sholder's 'A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge' (1985)

A decent, well-paced slasher choked full of the kind of bizarre homoeroticism you can only get from the mid-80s.

Luis Buñuel's 'Un Chien Andalou' (1929)

Fuckin' French people, man. No wonder 'Avant Garde' is a French term.

Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz's 'The Toxic Avenger' (1984)

Utter madness from beginning to end. I mean that in every sense of the word. Holy shit.

William Malone's 'House on Haunted Hill' (1999)

It's not even a house. It's takes place in a tower.

Jan Švankmajer's 'Alice' (1988)

An insanely bizarre take on the Lewis Carroll story. Weird stop motion using animal bones and barely any soundtrack.

Ken Wiederhorn's 'Return of the Living Dead Part II' (1988)

As silly and dumb and fun as it's predecessor, but lacking a lot of it's charm. You still end up with a simple, easy-to-watch zombie flick, but don't expect much of it to stick with you.

Tim Egan's 'Curve' (2016)

A short one to help me catch up.
Simple and effective stuff. Sometimes all you need is a decently creative scenario and a good performance to bring things together.

Jules Bass's 'Mad Monster Party?' (1967)

A great idea with a great set-up, bogged down a bit by Phyllis Diller laughing at her own lame jokes and a lack of meat to swim in the usual Rankin/Bass sauce.

Shigeo Tanaka's 'Gamera vs. Barugon' (1966)

It's fine. Gamera runs his face into a rainbow and get's frozen for a lot of the movie until it's time for him to steal a cheap win.

Brian De Palma's 'Carrie' (1976)|

Growing up is hard when you're mother is a crazy religious zealot and you have to go to school with a student body comprised mostly of psychopaths plays by actors in their 20s.

I knew timeshares were a scam.

A LOT of catch-up needs to be done. I DID watch a movie for each day, just forgot to log them. ANYWAY...

Victor Halperin's 'White Zombie' (1932)

Bela Lugosi obviously carries this, but a handful of shot choices stand out against the very primitive pacing.

I don’t know why this bothers me to this degree, but LITTERING is such an insanely despicable thing to me.

You can't be held properly responsible of your Taco Bell cup? You can't wait to find a trash receptacle? You *consciously* throw your grabage on the sidewalk?

I'm going to cut your ears off!

They're gonna tear down the mall where they filmed 'Dawn of the Dead' (1978).

I went to that mall a lot after some of the very first Pittsburgh-based conventions I went to.

Damn. :(

John Hsu's 'Dead Talents Society' (2024)

a bit messy and does a bit too much at times, but no so much so that keeps it from being fun.
