This is our first election after the switch to a “strong mayor” form of government (a campaign that was funded 100% by Jonathan Weinhagen at the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce, never forget). It’s time for a leader who lives up to the strong mayor title.

This makes me feel like an old man to say — my first choice for mayor is about character and integrity. We need a mayor who inspires trust, someone who can unite the city in hard times. DeWayne Davis is the kind of steady, humble, experienced leader who can move us beyond the last five exhausting years of ego, grandstanding, and finger-pointing.

Frey’s lack of any endorsements from Hennepin County commissioners and state legislators representing Minneapolis is telling. The political dynamic that exists among city leaders is not an “everyone else” problem. It’s a Frey problem. It’s time for a fresh start.
