National Lampoon's "Doon", by @ellisw.bsky.social, is a superior telling of the "Dune" story, maintaining pitch-perfect characters, while actually managing something Herbert didn't - be entertaining. (And very, very funny.)

"The Prince Of Darkness". Some of "Manhattan" is lit very, very low - I'd actually say "underexposed". I remember Vilmos Zsigmond on "Close Encounters" saying contemptuously to Spielberg at one point "Zere is zat Gordon Villis photography of vich you are so fond."

Well, there's good lines. But I found it troubling, for obvious reasons. (And overrated). It's the first time I'd watched it all the way through. It's a strangely angry film.
