Future government climate action: After high-profile disasters they will vomit money to large pro-Trump corporations to build infrastructure such as massive floodwalls that do nothing to address the core problem. I hate to be a fatalist, but the USA isn't uniting around climate change.

It would be quite easy for IQ47 to use the Putin-Medvedev model and have a loyal proxy run for a 3rd term who would appoint him to a non-cabinet post like "Special Advisor to the President" and allow him to be a shadow President. All he has to do is win an electorally-rigged election.

If the editor is convinced of those things it is probably because they are mostly true. The immediate issues of fascist decay, a potential armed insurrection at some point, persistent inflation, and AI poised to wipe out industries have people in a state of mind where they can't look past tomorrow.

People aren't talking enough about the national security threat posed by rushing construction. There is no way that workers are being properly vetted and materials are being properly screened.
