In their own home territories there are no real difficulties, though #Mirita didn't learn her actual birth M clan name until many years afterward. There is a thread that has proper pronunciations and all, but here's a screenshot to summarize.

#Mirita: Correct: ME-rii-tuh. For her birth name M'naira: Meh-NIGH-ruh. Most people tend to say Me-RII-tah/tuh the first time.

#Khorijin: Correct: CO-rii-jin. Occasionally she gets Co-RYE-jin, usually from people who don't know Steppe names.

#Rija: Correct: Either RII-hah or RII-yah, though the latter is technically more correct. People will say either most of the time.

#Khoride: Correct: CO-rii-day. Most people will either accidentally or deliberately focus on the "ride" part of it either for puns or other things.

#Ystride: Correct: IST-rid (like Astrid but with an I sound in front). Most people will say Yiss-tryed or something akin to that if they don't know.

#Euphemia: Correct: YOU-femme-e-yah (same as the Code Geass character)

#Helena: Correct: Hell-AY-nuh. HELL-en-uh is also acceptable but technically Less Correct.

At the young age of 9, N'ami had been carefully working on various symbols to communicate with her fathers to denote her location and safety. If you've delved into N'ami's lore, you'd know that her family specifically was targeted often in clan raids within the Steppe. She'd need to clearly communicate where she had found asylum until she returned home. Her fathers would find these symbols intricately placed within Doma to locate her.

This symbol shown has many aspects that relate to N'ami's life in kind. The symbol is a rising sun along the coast of the red sea. The dash in the middle of the sunrise is a lone samurai, or in our case, N'ami. The dot just above the sunrise denotes an angel, N'ami's mother. N'ami decided to keep this symbol throughout her life, using it as the coined symbol of the Clan/Syndicate. Whispers mention that this symbol can STILL be found amongst docks, carved in trees and even stained in charcoal on Kugane side streets. If your character has ever ventured into Kugane or Yanxia, perhaps they may have stumbled upon this symbol. Perhaps they may have tried to understand it's meaning. It's simple: The Hidaka Clan is here. The Hidaka Clan is home.

- #Mirita: Never met her parents. They died under Garlean occupation of Ala Mhigo when she was very young; her father M'jalla was a hunter that recently had permission to start his own offshoot of the M tribe, and her mother M'toko was from a different distant offshoot of the M tribe.
Upon meeting one of her father's surviving sisters, M'aka, she had an Echo vision of them; she does her best to remember them accordingly.

- #Khorijin: Only knows her mother, Gorbeljin "Stoneface", who is at current the khatun of the Borlaaq and by proxy Khorijin (and occasionally Khoride's reperesentative as khagan); Khorijin has never met her father and does not know him, but he is likely from the Iriq.
Gorbeljin is a stern and rather taciturn woman, and the one who taught Khorijin how to use a sword (and a spear, given that Khori's oldest sister Berude is kind of a jerk), but does her best to treat her daughters well.

- #Rija: Similarly to Khorijin, she only knows her mother Rena, though her grandmother Ysera and her great-grandmother Petra are both alive still. Rija gets along well with all three of them, despite the expectations levied on her as the oldest of her five siblings. Ystra and Petra are village elders, whilst Rena is a leatherworker in Rija's home village of Muscadet.

- #Khoride and #Ystride technically count Gorbeljin as their mother given their respective links to Khorijin (as Khori's Fray and Myste equivalents, respectively) though Euphemia has essentially adopted Ystride as well.

- #Euphemia's parents, Sophia and Andronikos, were both researchers at Elpis. Unfortunately, an accident that happened there when Euphemia was a teenager or so resulted in them returning to the star. As a result, Venat essentially adopted her afterward, and is her second mother.

- #Helena's mother, Vesna, is the queen of her clan, with Helena as the queen presumptive; Sambor, her father, does animal husbandry for the clan. Even before Ala Mhigo's invasion, Helena's clan wandered all over Bozja, and continued doing so in the wake of the invasion, refusing to submit to Garlean imperialism.

Generally, the Ladies of Light are all some degree of sapphic.
They all like women, but not *exclusively* women--their tastes generally skew toward either women or more feminine people in MOST cases.
I will try to explain this as best I can as far as their individual nuances go, but that is the gist of it.

Mirita: Cis woman
Khorijin: Cis woman
- Mirita and Khorijin are dating each other
- They have definitely had a threesome with Sadu, who is likely a not-cis Gender Creature herself in the Ladies' canon given Dotharli beliefs

Rija: Cis woman
- Rija is mostly attracted to women or feminine people, but will occasionally feel a pull to a man (e.g., Thancred, Estinien),
so you could say she's a bi/pan sapphic
- However, she has definitely been attracted to gnc men and masc non-binary people as well

Khoride: Altersex woman
- Ride does not see her gender as something she was assigned but something she chose (given that she is Khorijin's Fray, this is pretty much accurate)
- She would know, essentially, that she is a woman, but given that she chose her gender instead of having it assigned, cis/trans would make her shrug
- She has the ability to shapeshift her body about as she sees fit within a certain limitation of bodily height and mass,
but generally prefers to have breasts
- Anything else is essentially at her discretion, in whatever configuration she pleases to have
- While she's mostly attracted to women, that's not a hard and fast rule, and at least one person she is involved with long-term is distinctly Not

Ystride: Demiwoman
- Most of the time Ystride feels like a woman but sometimes they feel incredibly indifferent to the idea that she is a woman at all
- While she has no interest in men, women or femmes draw her eye

Euphemia: Cis woman
- She married a Gender Creature, and while she is not interested in men she is not exclusively into women either

Helena: Cis woman
- She's pretty much in the same boat as Rija, save that it's rarer for her to be into men
