I’m just going to request to second this because it’s so nicely written. Much appreciated, everyone! Hope to see you next week. And feel better, @sandyhubbard.bsky.social! #FreelanceFriends
Kids tell it like it is. And I was in no position to argue 😂. #FreelanceFriends
Seconding this. Nature is the best medicine. #FreelanceFriends
Oh, wow! Could’ve fooled me. I love this!
Sincerely, an ex-teacher who once had a child take her chalk (yes, chalk) when I was illustrating a story because she could draw it better. She definitely could. #FreelanceFriends
Oh, I do love that hashtag. Petition to bring that around again soon? #FreelanceFriends #AddingTheSnark
I would love to see one of these when you do! #FreelanceFriends
I used to send holiday cards, but these days, I just send an email checking in after January 1. I know I should be checking in more often. #FreelanceFriends
Oh no, I understood completely. Sorry, should have been more sarcastic. Thought the emoji would convey. Probably should have used a devil. On me. Apologies! #FreelanceFriends
I have NO idea what you’re talking about 😇. #FreelanceFriends
I put base rates on my website a few years back to stop the inquiries of editing for a byline/internship credit/bragging rights 🙄, etc. Most of my work is project-based, and I discount on occasion for referrals or X amount of guaranteed work from a client. #FreelanceFriends
I occasionally do a free consult or free sample edit, mostly because the medical work I edit or consult on is always governed by NDAs. It’s a quick way to prove I know my stuff. No LOIs, though most of my work comes by way of referral, so that makes a difference. #FreelanceFriends
Hi, #FreelanceFriends! I’m Alison, a consulting editor and proofreader checking in from Central NJ.
Being a grown-up lacks a proper reward system.
My morning: Got a flu shot. Our library system is running a sock drive. Managed to donate socks AND not buy books at the book sale (first time for everything)!
No one clapped. Didn’t even get a sticker.
I got to spend last week getting lost in nature. The return to screens is making me extra grumpy this morning. To coffee! #AmEditing
Lovely seeing all of you! Until next time, Good Trouble, signing off (going to try and make this a thing 😜). #FreelanceFriends
That’s so kind! Mine is decidedly more of a troll move. #FreelanceFriends
This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. If I ever hit the lottery, I’m going to be the headphone fairy. #FreelanceFriends
Perhaps one day. Perhaps 😇. Oh, the stories we all could tell! #FreelanceFriends
I love this. It takes a level of belief and courage and should be applauded every time. I turned down a job a few years ago and was lectured for it! To the tune of, “Little girl (I am not), that’s not how the world works.” Laughed my way off the call. Dodged a big one. #FreelanceFriends
