Our biggest shortcoming is our lack of imagination.

We struggle with paradigm shifts. That’s why we’re not acting on the climate crisis. We can’t imagine the ship really is sinking. That we have but hours to prepare. We still think we’ll be in NY harbour by Wednesday.

Education, Journalism, Science all depend on the pursuit of the objective truth. Politics have no business meddling in any of them.

Politics is about policy.

But in that sense, yes: the corrupting of education by politics is politics.

(e.g. CRT isn’t political—it’s factual MADE political)

"I don’t do politics” is not the flex you think it is. It’s 100% why the world is going to hell in a hand basket. Gvt is only by the people if the people participate.

“We’re not in politics. We’re just some guys in Virginia making good whisky. But unfortunately, we’re the victims.”

Idk man, maybe you don’t get to “not be in politics” when one side is blowing up international relationships you depend on www.cnn.com/2025/10/13/b...

Emily Tucker argues that the AI regulation debate largely misses the point: the real threat to democracy is the unchecked data extraction and accumulation that is fueling corporate power. “We can have mass surveillance, or we can have political self-determination. We can’t have both,” she writes.
To Have Democracy, We Must Contest Data | TechPolicy.Press
Emily Tucker makes the case for redlines for data, not AI—real limits on corporate data collection to protect democracy and political self-determination.

And make no mistake: they’re leading the energy transition for one reason only:

They have no oil.

Why is Québec so green? Because of its abundant hydro.

Humans are simple (greedy, biased, shortsighted) creatures.
thebullypulpit.bsky.social
We kept it to one—on purpose. I was a lead climate organizer in 2019. We had momentum. But the pandemic allowed Big Oil to regroup—and how.

I'm stunned by the depravity of the lobby and the hubris of the political class. There is no adapting to ecological collapse. Mitigate or perish.

We're trapped in a machine that has turned all of its constituent parts (electoral and economic) into mere cogs (if I go Green, I lose votes, I lose viewers, I lose business).

That systemic powerlessness is not by accident, but by design. Not out of ignorance or even greed, but sadistic depravity.
thebullypulpit.bsky.social
I know how extreme this may appear. But those of us who have been paying close attention to the science know what’s coming—and know that those who are knowingly precipitating it will never get their due; they will be long gone and anyway—no punishment could ever have been sufficiently severe.

I'm glad I don't live in Florida.
Not because I'm gay, I'm not.
But because I'd get in trouble.
For beating the living snot out

confidently ignore science and
persecute people who did them

Bad science alert:

1) No sex & age matching;
2) ME cases were from the CureME biobank; controls came from the company’s own biobank;
3) All cases were severe, house-bound; all controls were healthy & likely physically active (vs having other chronic conditions—depression, fibromyalgia, MS…)

Trump is much weaker than he looks. He's always been a bloated, sloppy, low-IQ flaccid failure. Now he’s a bloated, sloppy, low-IQ flaccid failure desperately trying to distract from all that by attacking US cities with our military and sending his Justice Dept after political opponents.
