Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

There are many different time travel/rebirth setups. Sometimes the isekai aspect is really unnecessary aside from simply establishing a “modern mind” in the MC, but that’s still important because explaining why the character is the way they are doesn’t make sense or work within the fantasy world.

We lose out on the adult thought process and internal monologue that was a big part of the comedy and intrigue, since a child with a few ideas of what might happen is very different than an adult who knows a lot.

This setup is closer to the “Philomel the Fake” and sets a totally different tone

It results in a weird genius sentient child but who is still actually a child?

You can’t hear remove the isekai rebirth but still have a fully conscious baby

They also cut a lot of the pre-story content that sets up the story, changed details, I don’t like it

Didn’t read the novel so idk if they are following it instead, but they’ve fundamentally changed the main character in a way that completely changes the framing of the story. It’s a confusing choice.

This makes Facebook and even worse hotbed for misinformation in Canada.

Political discussion that references actual news is impossible unless you take pictures of the articles or copy the content, but you can’t link back to the source if it’s official news.

I believe the law was originally designed to prevent large platforms like Facebook from embedding news content on their site, which prevents traffic from going to the actual news website.

In Canada, you can’t share official news content on Facebook. You can, however, share political podcasts, memes, etc.

This is because Canada introduced legislation that would force Meta to pay news organizations for using their content.

Obviously, the sources deserve to get paid. However, the impact of having to pay for them means a lot of people simply don’t and won’t see them.

Convenience is one of the most important things in political commentary right now, as many people are getting their news bites from social media

There is a very concerning trend of high-quality data being gatekept by subscriptions that are too expensive or tedious for the average person these days, so a large amount of people are getting their news through biased Talking Heads who boil it down and can twist it, instead of the original source
