I think it's EASIER to burn out while unemployed. I haven't had a day off or a moment when I wasn't On™ since my layoff. Even when I'm out, I'm checking emails, sending pitches, and scrolling for work.

I have one full day off planned at the end of Oct. I am being irresponsible and going to Disney.
