At the time there wasn't much for Bluesky, I guess? But similar things existed for other services, right?
I need to make a small promo video about my extension that I could pin to my profile. It means I'll have to spend a bunch of time to learn some new tooling to manage that. I love learning new things, but when rushed it's not that fun. #buildinpublic
And you managed to make me giggle in doing that 💯
Whenever someone send me a message online I truly want to reciprocate, but a significant number of these messages reek of LLM content. Those I just ignore. And I think it's a shame that we've come to that. #buildinpublic
Honestly, me neither. But considering the truly random extensions out there with tens of thousands of users that have no webpage and an impossible name, I postulated that it must be how it works.
Few weeks back when I posted about getting zero engagement for my just published extension one kind soul went and gave it its first review. They didn't install it, they just gave it 5 stars. They will have a place in my heart forever. When did you last help a fellow indiedev out? #buildinpublic
I recently changed from Proton to mailbox.org. I think there's like 20 email aliases you can setup (on whatever domains you own). The value for money is great. The SPAM filter could be better tho.
I've decided that I will not do any coding for the time being and focus all my efforts at marketing & user acquisition. Only when I've managed to find some users who genuinely find value in my extension, will I pick up coding again. #buildinpublic
School holidays are definitely the worst part about being a working parent.
I think it's quite natural for schedulers to target as many social services as they can reasonably manage. Mostly because as a (tiny) user I cannot be bothered to use multiple ones, so I end up choosing the scheduler based on the networks they support.
Why are there so many social media schedulers out there? I mean sure, I'm constantly thinking "I would do this better" when using Fedica. But it's good enough to not waste months rolling my own. So what gives? Why is everyone doing one? #buildinpublic
I thought that Google & Firefox stores were these magical places where people would discover my extension. That turned out to be completely false. 1 week of being listed and not a single organic install. Looks like there's a long and hard road of user acquisition in front of me. #buildinpublic
Success is pointless if you're not well enough to enjoy it. Take care!
What core skills does a solo-builder need to practice to achieve a basic level of marketing chops for succeeding? #buildinpublic
Automation platform, but instead of running in the cloud, it runs in your browser. 🤔 Other than being able to automate webapps that don't provide APIs, would there be any other unexpected usages of something like that? #buildinpublic
I started my current project with the intent to learn all about marketing and acquiring users. Sure enough, at the first roadblock my motivation plummeted to zero. Funny how we end up sabotaging ourselves like this. #buildinpublic
The more time I spend tweaking my extensions search logic, the more appreciation I have for various search engines (Google, Bing, etc). There's a mountain of sorcery going on behind the scenes that make them work. #buildinpublic
Every chatbot (ChatGPT, Perplexity) power user.. I've tried posting in related communities and even ran some ads. I guess, you're right, the only thing I haven't really tried is direct outreach to random people who have hinted they use these chatbots a lot.
Anyone got any tips on getting first users for a B2C project when one doesn't know the ICP yet. Just spray and pray? #buildinpublic
💩 - or there abouts.

Slowly prepping to try out different things. No idea which of them will actually work. Learning basic video editing to produce some promo content. And trying to approach potential users on Reddit, but they're hard to come by and so far nobody has engaged.
I remembered that I took up my current project with the intent of using it to learn all the non-coding related things (marketing, growth, etc). Yet somehow, I had completely blanked that part out and replaced it with expectations for success.
Ended up taking a small break from indiehacking. Have been reflecting inwards to figure out what my next steps should be and how to regain my motivation. #buildinpublic
I'm building a browser extension to provide a better search for past conversations. Tell me what kind of grievances do you have with the ChatGPT built-in search, if any. #buildinpublic
Are there any notable/upcoming contenders to ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini/Grok chatbots out there?
