Aiming to use every tube station and have a drink in the nearest pub…

Ok, so the aim is to use every single tube station on the TFL map, (The Croydon tram can get fucked) whether I hit in or out and then visit the closest pub for a quick half. Unless I’ve miscounted there are 422 to visit. Here we go
247/422 Walthamstow Queen’s Road: Suffragette Line. Lots of bog standard 2 star pubs today but we’ve stepped it up here. Chequers has a bright green tiling thing going on outside and inside is just huge. Few people in here probably cos it’s just opened but it’s alright. Half cider = £2.80 Rating 3/5
246/422 Bruce Grove: Weaver Line. Still find it mad that Spurs stadium is just on the High Street like a Superdrug. Anyway The Elbow Room - good name - is another Spurs pub with a colour scheme which is basically black. Pretty busy though and I struggle to find a seat! Half cider = £2.85 Rating 2/5
245/422 White Hart Lane: Weaver Line. The Bricklayers Arms is just by the station and unsurprisingly, it’s a big Spurs pub with memorabilia all up the walls. They are setting up for a funeral and appear to be closed but somehow i’m still allowed in for a drink. Hurrah! Half cider = £2.30 Rating 2/5
Might as well make the most of that pension.
244/422 Silver Street: Weaver Line. Apparently Shakespeare wrote Othello when he was lodging in Silver Street. If he had drank at the Crown & Anchor he could have written a dark manipulative thriller about a surly East European barmaid who resents serving her customers. Half cider = £1.45 Rating 2/5
243/422 Edmonton Green: Weaver Line. When I walk into The Lamb, there’s a couple of old fellas in there. One has just finished a pint and is about to start his second. His mate says, I’ll get you another and within a minute he has a third lined up. It’s 11:17am!! Half cider = £1.90 Rating 2/5
You’d hope there is a student bar on campus otherwise it’s well
miserable!
Didn’t fancy the idea of being a middle aged man strolling down the corridors of a university looking a bit lost and suspicious! But I did look to see if there was a local they all went to. There wasn’t. Think there’s a market. Might open one up!!
242/422 Custom House: DLR/Elizabeth Line. The Fox is at the Excel, dunno what’s on but it’s buzzing and there’s no nerds so I presume it’s not a comic book convention. The bar is all exposed brickwork and iron beams and it’s pretty decent. All the better for being busy. Half cider = £3.13 Rating 3/5
241/422 Prince Regent: DLR. I brace myself for another trip to the Fox Connaught but NO! A new pub. Woohoo! The Waterfront is quite nice and fancy but does remind me of a hotel bar. Having said that it’s so nice being in a different pub I’m tempted to stay for another. Half cider = £3.50 Rating 3/5
240/422 Royal Albert: DLR. It’s the fucking Fox. 4th time! I would happily walk a mile in the opposite direction just to use a different pub at this point. The Barman is probably wondering why I keep walking in and ordering halves so at least I look mysterious. Or mad. Half cider = £3.00 Rating 2/5
239/422 Beckton Park: DLR I have a half at the Fox Connaught and walk back to Beckton Park to hit in there. So that’s Cyprus (why’s it named that!) and Beckton Park done in just a few minutes so whilst this is boring at least it’s quick. Hopefully that’s The Fox done.. Half cider = £3.00 Rating 2/5
238/422 Cyprus: DLR. Well this is going to get fucking boring fucking quickly. There’s nothing around this area apart from the Fox Connaught which I did for 224 London City Airport. And on my way I pass my next stop, Beckton Park as well, so that will be three trips here. Half cider £3.00 Rating 2/5
237/422 Gallions Reach/DLR. There’s a big shopping centre here which is logged on trip advisor! Why? Who’s rating a shopping centre? You’d do better to rate Galyons Bar which is well fancy. I’m hoping they do a roaring trade at lunch cos at the moment it’s just me. Half cider £3.50 Rating 3/5
236/422 Beckton: DLR. Beckton, home of the famous sewage treatment works. No time to go there though, cos The Brewers Fayre is calling. It’s the sort of place you used to go to with your mum and dad on a special occasion in the early 80s. Rubbish and dated basically. Half cider = £2.38 Rating 2/5
Yep! If a jobs worth doing…
Fucks sake cards on the table. I had a half in the Tavern, then realised the Fox was closest. I was going to ignore it but it is closer so I ran in for a half. On the tube to the next station i realised I hadn’t taken a photo so nicked one from Google. I’ll go back and get one. I’ve let you all down
That’s why I’m posting it here. Mate of mine suggested a book but it would have been fucking tedious!!!
My rules are pretty flexible but I just followed the closest that Google maps suggested!!
235/422 Leyton Midland Road: Suffragette Line I’m posting pics of the roundels but I still have the platform pics just in case anyone accuses me of not actually using the tube. Although who in the right mind would pretend to do this shit. Lion & Key Hotel is pretty basic. Half cider £2.25 Rating 2/5
234/422 Leytonstone High Road: Suffragette Line. The roundel outside the station is a fancy mosaic and is really cool. It’s the work of artist Maud Milton and there’s a few round here. Well done, it’s nice when people make an effort. The Bell makes less of an effort. Half cider = £1.55 Rating 2/5
233/422 Wanstead Park: Suffragette Line. Wanstead Park is close to Forest Gate so I presume I’m revisiting The Forest Tavern but The Fox & Hounds is next door and a fraction closer so I get to go in there instead. Best of the day but that’s not hard. Half cider = £2.35 Rating 3/5
