Private diagnosis over here is pretty costly too. I still don't completely understand how we got so lucky with my son and the NHS; he had an EHCP (educational support plan) in place when he started school, but I know so many people whose kids have been on waiting lists for years and years

When you are desperate you'll do, and allow, almost anything.

I can write good supernatural for sure, but I can't paint it as well as that moment when you have nothing left to lose but your own soul.

Which is probably why I write self-sacrifice and depression well. Poor Emily.

In a lot of mine, desperation (esp. around poverty and marginalisation) are explicitly linked to supernatural elements. And they're both equally terrifying

Suffice to say, I'm proud to have produced at least a couple of novels in which the rich and powerful are literally eaten

(The eating is more figurative in the other books)
