After a walk this afternoon, enjoyed the Tumwater branch of the Timberland Library (a regional system). Browsed for an hour. Borrowed a book. I love the serendipity of wandering through the stacks and chancing upon an unexpected good. Question: does Trump read? I don't mean for pleasure.
You have been cynically and colossally misinformed.

James Madison in Federalist no. 47, 1788: “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”
Many Trumpists would be pleased to be out of NATO and the UN. So, maybe double secret probation instead.
One of the themes at my protest was a general strike. I'll push for that or something like it.
Partial disagree. Signups and networking for future action are great, of course, and I saw some happening yesterday in Olympia. But the protests do other things. They are good for the morale of participants and are inexpensive publicity. They also are storm warnings for persuadable lawmakers.
Thousands at the No Kings rally in Olympia today. Great costumes and signs abounded. Two favorites: "Cleanup on Aisle 47" and "If Kamala had won, we'd be at brunch." #Resist #NoKings #Olympia #Washington
Missing this guy today on what would have been our tenth wedding anniversary. He lingers in good memories though he's been gone since 2020. #KrisTimo #Kirisimasi #Leone #Matu'uFamily
This is a loss. Some soul updates by him that I'll always love.
Following errands and a walk, I stopped at Olympia High to enjoy this. I plan to be at the No Kings rally on Saturday. The trees endorse this action. #NoKings #Olympia
Liking this did not seem quite right. Sorry for your loss. Could be worse . . . I know personally.
I've updated my occasional blog with a short piece of about 800 words, "Current Options for Removal." Check rockonaswamp.blogspot.com

Wow, Mike Johnson sure lies a lot for a Christian. Or maybe he's just a fool.
Mike Johnson: "This hate America rally that they have coming up for October 18? The antifa crowd, the pro-Hamas crowd, and the Marxists, they're all gonna gather on the Mall. It is an outrageous gathering for outrageous purposes ... all this has gotta come to an end."
A mix of evergreen and deciduous trees in fall red and yellow, taken on today's walk. I got flu and COVID vaccines and then accessed a segment of the Chehalis Western Trail from the medical office parking lot. A calming walk, in part because I had just defied RFK Jr.
From today's walk by the south end of Capitol Lake, Olympia. Plenty of ducks in there--magnify to see them. They don't like to be near humans, evidently, and even though their judgment is based on vast generalizations, I see their point.
Today's walk was through a cemetery and I took no pics to allow the dead some privacy, which is relative since their names are etched in stone on public display. Lots of Herberts died about a hundred years ago. Nearly everything is temporary including our pain and woes--sometimes that's comforting.
From today's walk by Capitol Lake, Olympia. Thinking about what makes for a good government. Washington state has some measure of that, though the federal government increasingly does not. #Olympia
The president's illegal actions through ICE agents in Chicago and elsewhere have crossed a red line. Remove this wannabe dictator from office. Who should? All of us. #DeposeTrump
It's Willamette, a school in Oregon. Oops. And Pacific Lutheran won, 31-28.
At the Pacific Lutheran University football game against Williamette. The home team is behind 21-14 about half way through the third quarter but is playing with determination though maybe not as much talent as their opponent. The game has a fun small-town feel.
I like the Callahan books, have read a couple. You reading Mencken is redundant.
His approval rating is hovering near 40%.
Among other flaws, he doesn't learn from experience. Also, he's deteriorating mentally. So . . . prospects for whatever he touches are poor. And yet about 40% of the electorate believes he's a brilliant leader blessed of God. I'm at a loss to understand this level of foolishness.
After lunch with a friend, I visited a particular grave in Renton. Have enjoyed his work for a long time.
