To be fair we didn't have the Internet back then to look up this complex conversion of volume to mass. 🤣 I'm a chemist and I gave up trying to convert gal to cm³ to gram to lb.

This gets even messier, though: an American "hogshead" is 62 to 140 gal. A traditional European oxhoft is 55 to 76 gals. 😅

The game is deliberately, very very deliberately, designed to piss you off.

I have pro league players in my raiding guild and even they say the game is a salt farm built to make you rage.

(The story is that Rand once met her reluctant(?) lover in nothing but a fur coat and demanded he tell her she was beautiful or something. I just remember the naked and the fur coat and the Ayn Rand bits. 🤢🤮)

This is one of my favorite self-owns of all time.

So Columbus, asshole that he was, stole corn from the Americas and brought it back to Europe.

He neglected to bring back nixtamalization, though - the process that makes bioavailable niacin, calcium, and iron in the corn.

Cue mass pellaga deaths.

Nixtamalized corn being ground on a metate with a metlapil (like a mortar and pestle for dry grains) by a Mesoamerican woman while in front of her a woman makes tortillas (tlaxcalli) on a comal atop a fire pit. In the background, a man drinks from a bowl while another talks.
