#90sTop30 Near Misses (Random Order)

Heart Shaped Box | Nirvana | 1993

The lead single from In Utero just misses my thirty. It’s still my number one Nirvana track though.

Talk Of The Town | The Pretenders | 1980

One of my earliest musical memories is hearing this song and falling for it instantly. It’s stayed with me ever since, Chrissie’s words and vocals are wonderful but it’s James Honeyman Scott’s guitars that always hit home.

Thank you. Thoroughly enjoyed it as always. 😁

Siouxsie And The Banshees

Cities In Dust | 1985

The Banshess go widescreen. Whether they were post-punk, goth, alt rock or whatever, it all came together perfectly on Cities In Dust. Big sound. Huge tune.

Not much between them for me although I prefer side one of Low to side one of “Heroes”. And Lodger is superb in it’s own unique way.

Select your thirty favourite song endings. That part in a song where the end begins…

Loved the single version too.

Oh okay. I understand. 😁

Happy Birthday to my number one #DavidBowie album “Heroes”. It still sounds incredible today and side two still remains my most played side of music on any album ever. I know every nuance like the back of my hand but it still holds my attention every time I hear it. The true Berlin album. #Heroes

Dirge | Death In Vegas | 1999

DIV’s second album The Contino Sessions was a dark, gothic masterpiece. The album’s tone was set perfectly by the brooding and impressive opener Dirge.

Into The Groove | Madonna | 1985

Possibly Madonna’s finest moment. The stars definitely aligned for this classic, the quintessential Madonna tune. An artist at the peak of her powers doing what she does best.

Only heard a couple of tracks but I did like them. Similar in sound aren’t they?

Siouxsie And The Banshees

Jigsaw Feeling | 1978

Jigsaw Feeling is getting so close to dislodging my number one choice but it’s not quite there yet. That early Banshees sound is magnificent, each band member playing their part to perfection.

Glittering Prize playing on BBC 6 Music. The day has peaked. 😁

Planet Of Sound | Pixies | 1991

The lead single from Pixies fourth studio album Trompe Le Monde. Typical Pixies, short in length and not so sweet but a marvellous noise all the same.

Never Let Me Down Again (Split Mix) |
Depeche Mode | 1987

Getting to the business end now and some real big beasts. Imperial Phase Mode notch it up a level and proceed to notch it up some more. A tune of monolithic proportions (especially the Split Mix).

Siouxsie And The Banshees

The Sweetest Chill | 1986

Track two on Tinderbox and track five on 2022’s excellent All Souls compilation. With a revolving door of Spinal Tap-esque proportions regarding guitarists, John Carruthers really shines here.

Afraid not. Looking at her timeline nothing has been posted for a few months.

I’m not planning on running one and December is free at the moment if you want it.
