I’m primary caretaker for a baby now, spending nearly every hour of almost every day handling it all completely on my own.

I’d like to be able to afford 1-2 days a week to knock out big chores (like laundry) & to be on the ground again. A nanny costs $20-$30/hr. I make $350/week lol

the whole antifa bus/outside agitator hysteria is dumb but it gets used the same way cop city folks got arrested & charged with terrorism if they didn’t have georgie state ID while those with were let go. it’s used to convince people their neighbors aren’t rising up - violent strangers are.

if you want to be helpful, support the local indie press that lives there - not randos parachuting in, even when they do so with good intention. raise awareness. contribute to jail support or bail funds. buying a flight & booking a hotel room hoping to eat some teargas is wack.

it’s generally not in good taste to chase riot porn. it scans as opportunistic & callous, esp if you make no effort to build/be in community. plus any footage you post is guaranteed to get ripped so if you’re clout chasing you’re gunna get v mad.

This sentiment from current beat cops (not the shadowy talking heads from the PBA that Weiss is using as sourcing here) meshes with informal interviews over the years with cops who hate subway details (mandatory OT). It’s a big reason why cops are leaving NYPD: Not what they signed up to do.

Nobody wants it as a story but I have multiple NYPD sources who voted for Mamdani, are eager for his win in November, and who say their colleagues quietly feel the same.

They like that he wants NYPD to focus on crime, not quality of life enforcement.
