Sporting CP Finances 2024/25
Hello Heaven, Hello

swissramble.bsky.social
Despite the steep increase in revenue, Sporting managed to contain their wage bill, which actually slightly fell, reducing by €2m (3%) from €90m to €88m #SportingCP
swissramble.bsky.social
Sporting have also significantly grown their revenue, so the €148m generated in 2024/25 was another club record. Last season's growth was driven by a return to the Champions League #SportingCP
swissramble.bsky.social
Like most Portuguese clubs, Sporting are very reliant on player sales, earning €633m in the last decade, including a record €102m last season - and that is before the sale of Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal #SportingCP #AFC

Sporting's pre-tax profit increased from €12m to €20m in 2024/25, which means that they have posted profits four years in a row #SportingCP

A look at how Arsenal were able to spend so much this summer, as the signings of Zubimendi, Eze, Gyökeres and Madueke (amongst others) meant that the club had the highest net spend in the world, raising the question of whether they face any PSR issues #AFC

Of course, the vast majority of fans could not care less about the club’s balance sheet, being much more worried about how the team is doing. Spurs have largely outperformed their financials, at least until recently #THFC
swissramble.bsky.social
The irony is that Spurs did loosen the purse strings a little in Levy’s last few years, spending much more in the transfer market, taking on more debt, which led to sizeable losses #THFC
swissramble.bsky.social
Tottenham have always faced a tougher challenge than the rest of the Big Six, as they have had to compete with the lowest revenue, lowest wages and lowest transfer spend, but some of this has been self-inflicted with a very low wages to turnover ratio #THFC
