Only just passing through… but I had to check out the Vortex!
Thanks for the question! Honestly, I can't remember. Any plotting I *would* have done have been lost to the mists of time...
I’ve been meaning to read more Du Maurier, and this new story collection gave me the nudge. With an intro and appreciation by @stephenking.bsky.social!

Thomas Perry, one of the greatest thriller writers of the past four decades, has died, per his publisher, The Mysterious Press:
The Mysterious Press is sad to report the passing of Thomas Perry, who died suddenly on Monday, September 15, as reported by his wife, Jo Perry. Our hearts go out to her, their two children, and all his family.

Tom was a bestselling thriller writer who was beloved by all who knew and worked with him and was part of the Mysterious Press family for a quarter of a century.

His first book, The Butcher’s Boy, won the Edgar Allan Poe award in 1983. He launched his popular and critically acclaimed series about Jane Whitefield in 1995 with Vanishing Act, chosen as one of the "100 Favorite Mysteries of the Century" by the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association and was included in Parade's list of "101 Best Mystery Books of All Time." The last book in the series, The Tree of Light and Flowers, will be published in March 2026. The author of 31 novels, he has received numerous awards, including the Barry for Best Thriller of the Year for Hero earlier this month.

Many of his books have been acquired by Hollywood studios, most recently The Old Man, a limited run television series starring Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow which premiered on FX on June 16, 2022; a second series made its debut on September 12, 2024. His novel Strip has completed filming as Bear Country, starring Russell Crowe.

Otto Penzler, who published Perry for 25 years, spoke for all those at the Mysterious Press who worked with him, especially Luisa Cruz Smith, his editor for the past four books, stating, “Tom was not only one of the most distinguished writers of crime fiction for more than four decades, he was an unfailingly kind and thoughtful gentlemen that it was a joy and honor to know. We all will miss him, as will his countless fans in all parts of the world.”
Very proud to see BILLION-DOLLAR RANSOM, my latest with James Patterson, at #5 on the NYT best seller list!
Currently reading and enjoying SCREAMING AND CONJURING, Clark Collins’s lively and interview-packed survey of horror films from 1996 through 2013.
If you happen to be in Venice, CA this Saturday afternoon, stop by the library! I'll be nerding out on the SF writers who at one point called that crazy beach town home: Bradbury, Brackett, Leiber and Shea.

Killing people we disagree with is wrong in every way, whether it’s Melissa Hortman or Charlie Kirk. This is especially true in a country awash with guns and run by fascists looking to amplify their already militarized policies.

No thoughts and prayers. Down with fascism and up with gun control.
I hate the word "should," but... you should!
Happy birthday to my Grandmom Eleanor (a.k.a. “Dolly”) who would have turned 99 today.
976-EVIL. (No offense! It’s a longtime favorite)
Yeah, that was the main one : )
I'm a huge Tony Gilroy fan, and really need to check out ANDOR.
Thank you so much, Meghan! Thrilled you dug it. And I need to check out MRS. DAVIS.
I am a little bummed that my super nerdy South Philly references are no longer canon... but hey, that's how it goes! I still need to catch up with ANDOR.
Shut the door. Have a seat
