Northern. Generalised wandering, nature, botany, birds. May also bang on about Castlefield Corridor without warning.

Lovely! Grey here also. I'm badly missing a bit of light.

Good use of The Algebraist there. Iain would approve.

God, this. Paused at his cottage on a walk once and remarked "bloody miserable misogynist", startling a passing tour group. Jude nearly did for me.

On the train, squintingly rereading The Waste Land on my phone, agreeing. There's a good start to a Tuesday morning.

Lord Peter Wimsey is the narrative voice of The Waste Land.

Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

Tonight's Monday Night Headtorch Club was sponsorsed by this fine example of a sticky, phallic shroom. #FungiFriends A joy to behold. Less of a joy to smell....
A stinkhorn mushroom, surrounded by rotting vegetation

A good mushroom from the weekend, to brighten Monday. I think it's a fly agaric that's rebelliously vetoed spots this season. #fungifriends
Orange red funghi with a neat triangle missing from the top, nestled in some damp, fallen autumn leaves.

😁 Excellent advice. I realised a while ago that if I just want to wear the mid rise baggy jeans I loved in the 90s I could just... wear the mid rise baggy jeans I loved in in the 90s.

If you can get defenestration in by Wednesday you'll have win this week. 😁

I poked my walking pole in to see how deep and it didn't find the bottom! 😱

There's probably a manual "How to deploy your cows for maximum inconvenience. " 😂

I can sometimes be a bit dismissive of 'helpful' signs on walks. Not this one though.
A stone path through the moor, with black, wet, peaty mud and puddles on either side. A warning sign on the side of the path says "Deep mud, keep to path""

Well done! Beautiful sunset to finish as well. 💙

😂 Poor Mavis, with such a terrible, beach deprived life. 😁

I remember my Dad sweating and swearing carving turnips in the 80s. 😂 Bless him for the effort. And then we had to have turnip soup, as mum couldn't abide waste (other veggies were included).

I love Boggle Hole! We walked the coast path to there the day of the Queen's funeral and I was delighted to discover their cafe was just opening as we got there. Perfect timing, excellent cake.

Not a decision I would argue with! 😁

So sadly disappointed. 😥

Similarly excellent ears. 💚

A nice recreational gate, hanging about in the mist on the West Pennines for @lakesstiles.bsky.social
A metal kissing gate, flanked by fence posts, but with no actual fence to the left. It's on auburn moorss, with a peaty desire path running straight past it.

Me, this morning: it's been a stressy week, I'll go up the moors, get some air, clear my head a bit.

The moors: FULL SPOOKY SEASON 😁
Trees shrouded in mist, viewed across auburn moor grasses.
