Genuinely excited when Origin Story cover my A level history syllabus, which was a barnstorming course with only 5 pupils and a marvellous teacher. It was The Drefus Affair episode that got me subscribing, and now our specialist topic! Excellent stuff. #17again
🚨ICYMI🚨

Our first ever three-part story. @iandunt.bsky.social & @dorianlynskey.bsky.social discuss Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin. Listen to Part One: Revolution now 👉 linktr.ee/originstoryp...

Anxiety. But I had to listen a couple of times before I got it.

Mamdani talking lucidly and passionately about trans rights and history in a video that should frankly shame every politician who has hemmed and hawed and triangulated and said, "Well, but sports..." It's not that hard to tell the truth and stand for what's right. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEvV...

The Tories oversaw the near collapse of the criminal justice system which effectively decriminalised rape, they have nothing to say to rape victims & survivors who are being repeatedly failed so blame foreign perps, even when the perps are British, & ignoring how rape is about violent men not race.
Badenoch: "Why couldn't we deport those foreign nationals who raped girls in communities across the UK? Why do we still allow them to remain in the very same town where their victims live?" Because, yet again, the bulk of them were UK nationals, many of them born here.

I do not want to enable location services. I do not want to create an account. I do not want to sign up for special offers and news about your product. I would like to engage in a simple transaction where I give you money in exchange for a good.

I promise not to ask too often, but if you could help Small Son and I raise funds for The Miscarriage Association we'd really appreciate it.

We are going to be doing a sponsored walk on the 12 October and all donations are very welcome via our fundraising page.

Congratulatory post-half marathon chocolate cake from the Mr.

Blue tinge from #universitychallenge where I am shouting at the dawdling by the Strathclyde team. But at least I got the music round questions.
A slice of chocolate cake sits on a white plate with a cake fork. The top of the cake is shiny and reflects blue.
Started this last night. Promising beginning.
A book with red circles on, and a picture of a fox on the front cover. It reads Happiness by Aminatta Forna
8 March! But I have to think about it every year too.
Genuine disgrace. The Emperor of Japan watched a pool game, Carney flee across the Atlantic. I knkw Twickenham's a pain to get to, guys, but it's still in London, they couldn't have made it easier for you.
Sorry - I've seen Mark Carney many times tonight, but neither our PM nor a Royal Family member. What a joke of a nation.
I love BH & must reread. I wonder if people don't even want to put the effort in at all. Is it that they can't manage it or they've not been taught to persevere? Although I also swear no one should read Dickens before the age of at least 18 & even then, the easier ones. He's better with age.

What I don't understand about the rush to AI is why people don't *want* to think. Thinking is the most pleasurable, gorgeous, exciting, sophisticated thing I do, and skipping that to get to an output and have more time to spend, I don't know, on my phone or something just seems insane to me.
I can never scroll past this snippet without watching it, it's always glorious.
Kermit was of my first loves too! Although I had no qualms about eating him in cake form - my mum made a Kermit cake for my 7th birthday.
What a lovely evening with @damianbarr.bsky.social at the splendid Bromley House Library this evening. V much looking forward to reading The Two Roberts. And thanks to @polisloizou.bsky.social for such an excellent interviewing technique.
A man and a woman are in a fancy room with a copy of The Two Roberts by the man, Damian Barr.
