Traditional ECG heart rate monitoring isn’t designed for newborns.

❌ Slow to attach & prone to dislodgement (Mizumoto, 2012)
❌ Risk of damaging delicate newborn skin (Anton, 2019)
❌ Wires interfere with crucial delivery room cuddles & kangaroo care (Bonner, 2017)

SurePulse is especially excited by these findings. Our wireless monitoring technology aims to support better, faster clinical decisions even during DCC, allowing baby-centred innovation to transform neonatal outcomes.
Why it matters: DCC is already a vital part of preterm care, but many babies still suffer from low oxygen levels. This study shows that higher concentration oxygen provision during DCC could offer safer transitions for pre-term infants.
Key results from the clinical trial:
✔️ 69% of babies in the 100% oxygen group reached safe oxygen levels within 5 mins (vs. 39% in the standard 30% group)
✔️ 30% lower risk of dangerously low oxygen
✔️ No increase in brain injury or early death
A new study from Anup Katheria and team in California has found that giving 100% oxygen to extremely preterm babies during deferred cord clamping (DCC) significantly reduces the risk of early hypoxemia, without increasing harm.
Innovations like the SurePulse VS take this a step further, combining thermal protection with cutting-edge heart rate monitoring, giving clinical teams accurate data during those critical first moments of life. Read more about the recommendation here: buff.ly/3BcAOlr
