A Carolina Wren -- aka the original LBB, or Little Brown Bird, also the Loudest Little Bird that has ever Louded -- sits on an old wooden post. Behind the bird is a fireworks display of floppy green pine needles. (From an Eastern white pine, I believe.) The Carolina Wren is a chatty, noisy, proud little thing. It's wings and back are a warm sort of hazelnutty brown, and its front is all latte-colored. Then it has that white stripe behind its dark eye -- just a little David Bowie glam pizazz to give it an edge. Its tail sticks straight out, like an indignant index finger pointing and assigning blame. The bird stands there, cocky and unfuckwithable, its sharp and just barely hooked beak ready to take out one of your eyes should you dare say a wary word about such a prideful little creature. I used to have nightmares about getting a pet and forgetting to feed it.
