Sunbow at Blakeney Point today, in the midst of a memorable birding day, with incessant flocks of thrushes and wildfowl arriving and goldcrests, bramblings and short-eared owls in the Suaeda.

What a stunning bird to come across today: the rare dark morph of the Atlantic Islands subspecies of the Eurasian Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla heineken)!

🔉 Afternoon arrival of Whooper Swans at WWT Welney

They were also in the company of 150 pink footed geese - a rare sight in this part of Norfolk

But then I spotted these 2 ducks asleep in the harbour at Maheroarty. A comical wait for them to pop their heads up, Irelands first Harlequins! Great to hear they are back again this morning. #donegalbirding

Bucket list birds don't get much better than a White-tailed Needletail in God's own county. Almost landed on the castle on 2 occasions. #Yorkshirebirding #UKbirding

The Brown Shrike at St Davids today - a belter and a bit of a show off. Found it whilst driving down to Porthclais to look for Yellow-browed Warblers. First for Wales if accepted. Hope it sticks around. #birdingWales

I've thought this through and I am going to re-find this at Trimley Marshes tomorrow morning.

I've let you all know - so don't be suprised.

Lapland Bunting, Dunwich yesterday. A scarce migrant through Suffolk (rarely over winters), Lapland Bunting numbers have varied from 6-21 (av. 11) in the county over the past 10 years and is now hard to connect with, so it was nice to find this #ukbirding #suffolkbirding

Birds in stained glass, freestanding #art or wall sculptures, rarely window panels. My birds are celebrations, explanations, rants and sometimes tears; but like the birds that inspire them, they are all beautiful dancers-with-light…

A superb day, mostly at Dunwich, with @noahbai-123.bsky.social and other friends. Highlight was the super adult male Red-tailed Shrike, my 400th world bird species! Great supporting cast of Glossy Ibises, Yellow-browed and Dartford Warblers, Crossbill and a late Whinchat! #ukbirding #suffolkbirding
