a critical reading of eva should probably land in a postgrad program

this is probably very well-known and I'm two decades late but I started hitting my boyfriend's leg like "honey honey stop the movie, I need you to screencap that!!"

thought about Beautiful Morning With You too hard and started crying lol

catcher in the rye doesn't have Beautiful Morning With You. the choice is clear.

they should take the catcher in the rye out of high school curriculums and teach a critical reading of flcl instead, as it serves a similar purpose that has more contemporary relevance for a teenage audience and also it is better written and samejima mamimi is in it

Friends, #weebwednesday is upon us once again! You know the drill - quote-post with your weebiest hot takes, nothing racist, nothing intentionally inflammatory, have fun with it ♥

hahaha. part of the fun with gero is not knowing what you're going to get.

funny thing about showa, there's an alternate edition in a fake ramones sleeve that according to some legends was smuggled into record stores and sold as such.

I've seen some cocktails - actual ones, not just "ginger ale" - but haven't had a chance to try any yet

it was empty so I couldn't tell you, and honestly I probably don't have the palette necessary to describe it anyway. my boyfriend is the fancy bitter apertif expert, I'm just the drunk who likes stuff that tastes like medicine and dirt.

fair enough lol. in japan, especially in the 80s and 90s, there was a lot of crossover between harsh noise and stuff like heavy metal and diy punk. it's a tiny island. indie imprints like alchemy records would release both hour long slabs of feedback and bands doing their best ramones impression.

wait here we go. not to toot my own horn but I don't know of a more complete collection in the west (that said I imagine the average gero diehard is probably the most reclusive freak on the planet).
suedonym.bsky.social
no you're good, it's actually kinda funny you say that because one of my specific bugbears is when friends tell me they've been "getting into noise" and then they link me to whatever and it's just like. abrasive internet breakcore or whatever. perpetually disappointed. lol

search is busted right now or I'd be flexing the link to pics of my gerogerigegege collection. a lifetime ago when I had disposable income I was a big collector, mostly of 90s japanese stuff. played a few shows with my own project. good shit. my merzbox is currently within eyesight.

Welp, the fr*ckin' British just shot a bunch of protesters in Boston, so there's probably going to be a war on! The Patriot folx are probably going to declare independence. So... I guess that's a thing!!! I didn't have the spoons for this today!

it's not even about "racism" for a lot of these kids. the racism is there, ofc, and for many of them it is sincere and they consider it just and principled. but the language is mostly gleeful in-group antisocial behavior. "look what we can get away with saying, look what my buddy will praise me for"
