I just… wished my extended family liked me. They don‘t have to love me or be proud of me. Just have normal expectations and see a few redeeming qualities in me.

(to clarify, I had low expectations for people outside of the anim industry, like family members. But even inside the film industry, when I mention it, I get an „ah“ or „oh“, if that. 😭)

To be fair though even if this won industry acclaimed awards, people outside of the animation industry wouldn‘t care much, too.
That‘s what being in a bubble of aspiring animators, visdev artists, storyboarders etc does - your scale of importance is tipped

When I landed my job as an illustrator for an animated TV show, I thought other people would be as ecstatic as me, or at least be very curious. Turns out nobody actually cares and it was all my own projection 😅
