What a headline. ICE agents can be arrested over unlawful actions. I hope the reaction from most people is,
"Why does that even need to be stated?". And the sad response has to be, "Because some people think they can do whatever they want". Bad ICE agents give every good ICE agent a bad name.

Some people have been in these camps for 4 decades. We can do better than effectively trapping people in a camp. Let them work, let them contribute outside of the camps. And the issues like, they don't know the local language could have been a non-issue if they received more support before.
True, a few marches that are relatively easy to show up to are not enough. There is the boring, tedious work of organizing, legal action, voting, reviewing effectiveness, donating to charities, and doing it regularly, etc.
If people do want to help, they can donate to organizations like Gavi: The Vaccine Alliance, Sanku, the Global Fund to Fight, AIDS, TB and Malaria, the World Food Programme, etc.
It's not like children are the group that most people claim to care about the most. Oh, wait they are. Given that 4.9 million children died in 2022 from mostly preventable causes, not sure how big the number needs to be to get much more action.
"Junta forces blocked relief efforts in areas outside their control and threatened, harassed and extorted humanitarian workers." There are too many conflicts in the world to only care about one or two that get most of the news coverage. And if you can, donate to charity to help.
"airstrikes on civilian targets, including schools, clinics, monasteries and displacement camps. Over 100,000 civilian homes have been destroyed in arson attacks. 3.6 million people are displaced, and nearly 22 million require humanitarian assistance. We need to care about this conflict.
Myanmar, "The military junta continues its campaign of violence and oppression against the people of Myanmar." For some people, the following might not mean much because we often receive news about war in other countries and might zoon it out. It does mean something. www.ohchr.org/en/documents...
A/80/490: Report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar - Advance unedited version
SummaryThe crisis in Myanmar has reached a critical juncture. The military junta continues its campaign of violence and oppression against the people of Myanmar. Junta forces have continued airstrikes...

He should do it because the great Sizzler closed down in Australia and many of the sites were replaced by Taco Bell. Somebody could make a donation to him so he will listen.
I find that interesting, as uncertainty can cause so much anxiety for people. So, if some uncertainty is good, that is great. And there is the certainty of uncertainty.
There is something nice in knowing there are people who will care about others in life and death. Remember them, and their stories. Be them a prison guard or prisoner.
So many themes in this story. Radical hospitality, and the divisions in life sadly can extend to death {separating people by religion, when buried etc}. The mention of Myanmar {sadly experiencing a brutal civil war and oppression}, mentioning refugees, and thinking about their stories.
Wow, I just learnt Beverly Hills does not sell tobacco products. If there can't be a county wide ban, hopefully local bans can help.
You can make a decision to help or a decision not to help.
What is going on in Haiti is terrible, but don't feel hopeless. That does not feed people or keep them safe. We might not be able to push a button on a computer and stop the conflict, but we can push a button to make a donation. crisisrelief.un.org/en/donate-ha...

"This increases the likelihood of sexual violence, spread of diseases such as cholera, and psychological distress for the displaced, who already lack adequate access to safe water, food and proper healthcare." news.un.org/en/story/202...
5.7 million people face food insecurity in Haiti

So, do we all understand the brief? Trump’s inner circle will let him do whatever he wants and defend It. Do we understand? There seems to be some people in the room who still don’t understand that. I will just leave some flyers here about it.
“Dr. Tayzar San urged Myanmar nationals abroad to move beyond observation and actively contribute to the revolution.” There might be a legit reason they are not, but not helping your country is bad. Everyone (including people not Burmese) should help. By donating to charity, etc.
Of course they should work together. It’s absurd and horrible that one of the groups decided to attack the Rohingya. Just focus on the main issues, the Junta and humanitarian assistance.
It’s interesting what people care about and don’t. Myanmar, Haiti, Sudan, leprosy, malaria, etc.
What’s an effective and ethical way to fight against it?
That is bad. Crime Stoppers is a great concept.
And in a democracy everyone including billionaires can (within the law) say what they say and spend money on what they do. Can I just encourage Peter to read other parts of the Bible like the parts that mention helping people.
It’s not good if someone with influence has an issue, but I think we give too much attention to billionaires and democracy. People not voting, not checking information they receive, ignoring the diminishing of democracies globally, double standards when it comes to rights, etc are bigger issues.
It would be better if no one got cancer. So, if billionaires and others want to do more to stop diseases that would be great.
