Saw one in the wild in Phoenix Friday driving behind me, will be cool to get in one soon
"revisions for their work, and generate summaries, promotional copy for social media, and SEO headlines."

A reasonable start, albeit late adoption of such a simple thing
"Say what you mean, mean what you say, but you didn't have to say it mean"

It's a simple but good quote I heard recently. "Brutal honesty" is unnecessary.

Just be honest, kind, and candid. It works better and leaves the bridges unburned.
I know the first Monday of the month isn't the promise anymore, but I still click the button every first Monday. This month was one of those where it was available.

It's the little things in life
"An ounce of information is worth a pound of data.

An ounce of knowledge is worth a pound of information.

An ounce of understanding is worth a pound of knowledge."

From Data to Wisdom - Russell Ackoff

Someone shared this with me yesterday. It contains a lot and is a short read
"Google Gemini is being used to commit crimes"

Of course it is, so are cars, baseball bats, cell phones, and this thing called the internet.

But nonetheless, we need folks to continue the good side of the work too

Practicality is easy to gloss over in the tech world because you have to be constantly thinking of the future and the now.

One practical use of GenAI tools - if you have been trying to do anything with Excel, pivot tables or power query. You can cut your learning time down a ton with GenAI.
Yesterday I got to spend some time with leaders across the nation from different States about #CCWIS.

All I can say is that we've got some great people out there that are dedicated to the cause of making this work better and am excited about what we will be able to accomplish with mutual support!
Well check that out, I knew it was coming but always nice to see a new integration with an existing product.

If you don't pay as close attention to this stuff, the difference here is the Nest Protect on Google Home
I set my phone apps to auto update, but then still check everyday to update all myself.

Force of habit from my first android phone when the updates really did bring a ton of functionality changes each update since things were new. Anyone else do this?
Staying on top of tech is an important part of my job. Used to just be a hobby of mine. Kinda cool to see this overlap.
Today I heard questions about why we do something and if we use the information.

Stay curious y'all, it helps people stay flexible.

Gemini and the AP partnering makes a lot of sense. Will be interesting to see if other news outlets start treating AI like search enginges. I don't think publishers get mad that their content shows up as a link when people try to find it on google.

Gemini app getting more real-time information with news partnership
Google today announced a news partnership with The Associated Press (AP) to “provide fresh results for the Gemini app.”

I'll save you the read, Microsoft Teams will let people change the position of the notification pop up to any corner of the screen.

Earth shattering? No. But there were power users asking for it. This is an example of doing something your most engaged users want to help keep them engaged.
The wait is over, Microsoft Teams users finally get the long-awaited notification freedom they wished for
Microsoft Teams finally gets some long-awaited notification control options.

The Google Home app has taken a long time to move all products from Nest into it. It's a small thing but I'm looking forward to having just one app.

As Phoenix continues to draw in innovative companies, more talent will be drawn to compete for work.

What I expect is that some of this talent will see the opportunities available in State government and compete for jobs that have purpose over profit.
Looking forward to getting to use this more, but deep research with 1.5 has been a great way to find new articles or research studies.

It will be interesting to see if the code knowledge for 2.0 really makes a difference compared to 1.5 though
Gemini 2.0 Advanced lands on mobile nearly a month after desktop
Gemini Advanced subscribers can now access 2.0 Experimental Advanced for tackling complex challenges, without leaving the app

Listened to my first AI generated podcast. It's not quite natural yet. Slightly awkward dialogue, and interesting that there are ums and ahs between the two fake people talking.

But it did give me relevant content at least
I've talked about hyperpersonalization with Artificial Intelligence before. As it starts to get more into our lives people will expect it of our governments.

If you work in child welfare and haven't thought of a future with hyperpersonalized services, I would suggest dipping a toe into the topic
The Honda 0 suv is 🔥, just don't look at the back
An easy way to kill a positive team dynamic. People can be high performing, accountable, and kind.

I want those people on my teams
The past few weeks have required high stakes decision making. I wouldn't want to be doing that in an environment where psychological safety was absent.

Not because I wouldn't be able to make decisions, but because I wouldn't get valuable feedback that helps make better ones.
Getting Gemini live while driving - it will bring hands free to a new level for sure
