After the “No Kings” protests: What Next?
The mass protests mark the beginning of a powerful movement against the Trump regime, but without a clear political perspective and understanding of the broader situation, this immense popular opposit...

Life of a Showgirl: #TaylorSwift latest self-portrait. The new album confirms Swift’s indifference to virtually anything outside her bubble of fame, wealth and romance. While an artist can ignore it, the world, and youth in particular, need more. www.wsws.org/en/articles/...

This week in history: October 20-26. 25, 50, 75, 100 years ago. 50 years ago, a Soviet Union space probe sent the 1st photo from the surface of another planet, Venus. Capitalism already expands war preparation into space, and seeks to claim private territory on the moon. www.wsws.org/en/articles/...

The recent No Kings protests showed that Trump is not all-powerful. At the same time, the massive and deep opposition to dictatorship will be derailed unless it becomes a revolutionary movement for socialism. Contact the Socialist Equality Party. www.wsws.org/en/articles/...
The October 18 “No Kings” demonstrations and the fight against Trump’s dictatorship
The more than 2,700 separate demonstrations, involving an estimated 7 million people, were, collectively, one of the largest political demonstrations in the history of the country.

The lesson of Raila Odinga’s death is that Kenya’s future cannot be built through the politics of bourgeois nationalism, but only through the independent struggle of workers and youth against the capitalist order that Odinga defended. www.wsws.org/en/articles/...
Raila Odinga’s funeral turns into another Ruto government massacre
Nothing could more starkly capture the bankruptcy of Odinga’s legacy than the massacre that unfolded at his funeral, carried out by the “broad-based” Kenyan government he helped forge.

Texas State University fired Prof. Thomas Alter, a historian of labor and the American left, for his political remarks. This is an assault on freedom of speech and political organization, and on college students' right to education. www.wsws.org/en/articles/...

No Kings, Portland, Oregon

Giant mass of Oregonians - stretching down the entire waterfront across bridges and throughout downtown - begin to march
And in one of the two political factions of the oligarchs.
You agree with US imperialism back to the Russian Revolution. That logic makes the US an extension of the British Empire. Your "how Ukrainians remember the Maiden " does not apply to Bogdan Syrtiuk & many others. Only 4 months left, so ok for coup? The divide is too great for further discussion.
You do not comment to the role of the US but also not on the brutal detention of Bogdan Syriutuk for promoting the Trotskyist position of mobilizing the working class of both Ukraine and Russia against both their oligarchies as the necessary way to end the war, with the same applicable to the US.
Most directly to your point of including Russia as imperialist, it is not, in the scientific sense of the Marxist analysis of Lenin's 1916 "Imperialism", explaining WW1. I refer you to "Is Russia an imperialist state? A letter from a Russian socialist to David North" at www.wsws.org/en/articles/....
Is Russia an imperialist state? A letter from a Russian socialist to David North
The World Socialist Web Site has received this letter from a Russian socialist, commenting on a letter written by David North, posted on the WSWS on April 2.

Russian oligarchs were deluded after 1991 that imperialist powers would accept Russia into their circle, blind to imperialist competition that caused WW1&2. Putin could not call on the working class of Ukraine or Russia for support. Invasion seemed the only means to get comprisomise with US/NATO...
Without excusing Russia's reactionary & criminal invasion of Ukraine, the 1st thing is that you ignore is that the US and Germany provoked Russia by encouraging & backing a fascist-manned coup in 2014 and then begain pouring in billions to build up its military with NATO moved to Russia's border...
