NEW: The British politician, his Russian intelligence handler & a Kremlin plot against the US & Ukraine.

My new piece about Nathan Gill and Nigel Farage for @thenerve_news in which we ask:

Why, even now, is no-one asking questions?

Just want to say I'm sorry to hear about how hard things are at home. I work with a lot of older adults who have dementia, so I know a little bit about what they and their family caregivers go through... it is the cruellest, most unfair disease. 😢 Hang in there. 💜
Why am I not surprised? People who use this tech almost *always* use it to deceive.
Sora 2, Open AI’s new AI video generator, puts a watermark on every video. But the logo meant to help people distinguish between reality and AI-generated bullshit is easy to remove and there are half a dozen websites that will help anyone do it in a few minutes.

Bypassing Sora 2's rudimentary safety features is easy and experts worry it'll lead to a new era of scams and disinformation.

One of our cats sustained a minor injury recently and can’t really wear a cone comfortably due to the location of the injury. Cute sweaters work, though!

I've given my site an accessibility-focused refresh! One of the things I love about having an independent website again is that I have the freedom to design a space for *everyone*, and am not beholden to restrictive "customization" options of big platforms.

The Nerve (if that is what you subscribed to) is hosted on Beehiiv, not Substack.
In case you're not aware, Carole Cadwalladr is the journalist who exposed Facebook's Cambridge Analytica scandal in The Observer. Very excited to see what she and her peers will do over at The Nerve! www.thenerve.news Independent journalism is so important.
Agreed, but The Nerve itself looks to be hosted via Beehiiv, not Substack.
I can hardly believe another month has come and gone... I wrote five blog posts in September, finished reading Adam Becker's "More Everything Forever," and was recommended some fantastic #indieweb oriented forums. More on that and more in my monthly rewind:

Monthly Rewind: September 2025 | Stephanie Vee
A look back at what I added to my website in September 2025.

Some thoughts on the final three episodes of Alien: Earth. What a letdown. A master class in how to quickly ruin a good premise while making a mockery of the original IP. And to think, I was still optimistic about the show a little over two weeks ago...

Alien: Earth Was Ultimately a Letdown | Stephanie Vee
Logical inconsistencies and poor writing ended up ruining what would have otherwise been an interesting addition to the Alien universe.

Neat, another platform to add to my growing blocklist!
Watched the final episode of Alien: Earth last night and ... ugh. I don't think I'll be watching the second season if the show gets renewed. A shame, as I enjoyed the first five episodes.

Static site generators are incredibly cool, and you should absolutely consider using one if you're a fellow blogger who's interested in joining the IndieWeb! I've written a tutorial to help you get started.

Getting Started With Static Site Generators | Stephanie Vee
A basic introduction to static site generators (SSGs), and why you should consider using one if you're building your own blog.

A tough one… I’m torn between equitable distribution of excessive wealth, and the elimination of social media.
Thank you! ❤️ SSGs are truly fantastic; they make website modification so much easier.
The IndieWeb is a fun space, and I want more people to join me there! Here's a repost of a newbie-friendly webpage tutorial I put together about a month ago. No pre-existing HTML or CSS knowledge required!
