ty!! I also have Zerra's Adventure on mine. 🙂 I get the feeling you might have also been inspired by RPG Maker 2003. (I may be imagining things but I think I hear some of the RTP sound effects in your trailer?)
It looks great!
At a glance I'm not sure what is or isn't unlocked. You could almost get away with removing the "skill unlocked" confirmation message and juicing up the effect on the icon itself, having a lock shatter or something. Just some ideas, it's solid as-is already.
I've been excited to announce this one.
Preorders are open for starless umbra t-shirts! I'll drop a link below, thanks for looking. 😀

Congrats, guys! The talking animals remind me of SoulBlazer so much. Looks great!
I like to do these periodic dream sequences, I feel they're a staple in the genre. Hopefully the parallax effect isn't too forced?

Congrats! I recognized your art straight away! 😀
this battle music is so catchy!
Ready for garbage day! 🫡
Excited for this one! Good luck with the release grind.
Love seeing 2k3 on my timeline! Looking out for this one. 👀
(game looks cool and excited to see more tho!)
There's definitely a beauty to pixel animations, this shortcuts it and breaks the pixel illusion/grid. Though looking at the rest of your screens you can probably get away with it, my preference for sprites this wonderful would be to hand-animate, though I realize that might not be totally feasible.
I'm definitely a sucker for card games 🙂
The game looks great! Limitations breed creativity and RM can do a lot, but breaks are also good. Looking forward to a demo. 🙂
update: (mostly) finished the cutscenes, here's village #2 's market area where you can find abilities and accessories for trade.

Procrastinating with mapping when I should be implementing a cutscene.

The fishing minigame looks cool! Good luck with this one.
It has to do with the number of people with a vested interest in seeing the project completed. If you use a game engine instead of building one from scratch does that disqualify you from being a solo dev? At some point it's just splitting hairs.
ty for reposting and your support!
Yeah absolutely happy to do a writeup for my next post! I added a vscode language extension for auto complete recently too, so other than data encoding (the scripts are just parsed as text files for the moment) it feels pretty robust.
This is fascinating, pardon my ignorance, is this just GM -> twitch? (Now you have me wondering about chatbot type twitch -> GM functionality.)
That's wonderfully kind of you!! I appreciate it. You may get a DM from me about normal maps. 😳
And yeah I ended up building rpg maker's "event" scripting system on top of gamemaker and leaning into rpg maker 2k3's general aesthetic. Will be following your project closely as well!
Haha, thank you!! Trying to post here more often. 😃

Hi! I wrapped up my second devlog. This one ended up being more introspective than expected, but I enjoyed making it! (Still learning.) Thanks for looking! #gamedev #gamemaker #jrpg
