I agree on this being a subject that could be exploited by opponents and they need a strong argument that people like your goodself would hear and think, "that actually makes sense". After all, reliance on America and withdrawal from much European cooperation has hardly made us stronger.
Some observations 1. In criticising him they are building him up as a serious force. It's working. 2. Progressive policies typically framed as "class envy" just like anti-slavery campaigners were probably guilty of "colour envy".
