What matters most is how well you walk through the fire. I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum.

Hoped to never have to post this, but here's a quick "rules of engagement" rundown:

I only block accounts if I see they're solicitation scams. Disagreement is welcome.

If I don't follow you, please don't take it as an insult. If you follow I might be more likely to check in on you, but that's it.
Moving does suck, but not so bad when it's a vast upgrade. Alas, I'd forgotten you & Steve have to factor in the whims of parasitic life anchors in all decisions. Kids are like boats. The 2 best days of your life are the day you get it and the day you get rid of it. Maybe she'll see it as adventure?
@jourdanrodrigue.bsky.social Rated on a scale of Trump does anything nice for someone else (highly unlikely) to Trump donates all his money to building housing for homeless immigrants (there's a better chance of Elvis on a unicorn flying sideways out my ass) where does a SEA trade for Jeanty rank?

"Silly" suggests some semblance of light-heartedness or whimsy; what the Bengals do is much closer to "predictably and depressingly incompetent hopelessness coated in a heaping pile of stupidity."
@sammonson.com A thought just occurred to me. Since you and Steve are no longer tethered to PFF, you're no longer obligated to live in northern Kentucky. There's plenty of places in the country that aren't known primarily for racism and "chili" atrocities, so why not move to one of those?
Great new for the bearded. Those "military events" are boring as fuck, and I'd gladly take any excuse to avoid one and spend the time on self guided r&r instead.
Horribly unfortunate but understandable, not knowing the response time of the proper authorities. A monkey could absolutely wreck even a fully grown adult.
Both too old to be president. Seriously, there's already an age minimum and I think it's overdue to have an age limit.
Yes, and what an ugly face it is. Like, if I was at a restaurant and served food by someone who looked like that I legitimately doubt I'd eat it. Honestly.
Actually the murder rate is much higher in many places with a far lower rate of gun ownership. They just use machetes and such instead. Either way is unpleasant. Deep wealth inequality and deification of the undeserving might be good starting spots in examining commonalities between the two.
I suppose those would be great for mass murder, but you just ran down a list of things that are extremely difficult to control and therefore are horrible ideas for any sort of self-defense unless you're targeting a whole area, and I'd hope you didn't do anything to piss THAT many people off.
Thank you, and to you as well. I'll leave you with the most overarching of themes: there's something culturally happening that's making people snap, and identifying and addressing what that is should be the priority in such cases.
Actually you're heading exactly where I'm aiming, no pun intended. There's a cultural problem, and that needs to be identified and addressed. Otherwise it's just triage applied after the harm has been done.
There's no "yay guns!" In fact, I wish there was never a need for them in any situation. I even wish animals would suicide to feed carnivores, too. I'm just pointing out that guns are inanimate objects, nothing more nor less until they're put to a use.
Not any more. He wants to sell it, but now can't due to a change in the law. But yes, that's what it was originally intended for (it was legal at time of purchase). It was a fine choice at the time, because shotguns don't require much accuracy and added weight would help counteract any shaking.
Yes. They're not very heavy, and hopefully the person is likely at least competent enough to be firing in the direction of the threat. But, the more shots you have, the better your odds. Personally my first shot would be in the dirt anyway if time allowed, in hopes the sound would scare it off.
As for "full tyranny mode," there's much more to get to that point. But just in general I'd rather not have gun access be restricted to only the government and ultra rich because they've been so highly regulated and monetized that only the government and ultra rich can afford them.
I'll set a scenario. Hiking with loved ones you come across an angry bear with bad intentions. What do you do, negotiate with it? And, should you need to use a gun, do you trust your accuracy when your adrenaline will be spiking so high you'll be shaking like a dog shitting razor blades?
Restricting magazine capacity also has other unintended bad effects. Where I live passed a law restricting capacity to 10 rounds. I know a guy who wants to sell his shotgun but now can't because it holds 12 shells (no magazine). So his options are keep it or donate it to an untrustworthy government.
I'd keep magazine size to whatever the factory standard is. The lighter the round, the higher the capacity because capacity is just decided by a combination of balancing convenience vs. back strength. Producing different capacities alters pricing, which disproportionately affects the poor.
Removing the tools from homicidal maniacs, absolutely yes. Removing access for everyone else, no. Notice how ICE hasn't disappeared any armed people even though there's plenty of immigrant "bad guys" fitting that description that deserve attention? Meanwhile, good people fret about being vulnerable.
