Even down to the Chris of it all - Eddie setting Chris free from trophy winning is setting himself free from trophy winning and that Chris’s freedom means Eddie can be who he wants to be - the Eddie who dances round his front room in y fronts and a pink shirt

That doesn’t take away from Eddie loving Shannon - if anything it makes it more powerful that he was able to feel some level of comfortable in that box - that Shannon was a ‘trophy’ he didn’t mind winning (not saying she was a trophy to be won - it’s the metaphor)

Yasss exactly - it recontextualises all of Eddie - even his relationship with Shannon becomes more performative - especially their reconnection - like in his mind Shannon getting pregnant was god telling him he needed to stay in heteronormativity - forcing it on him.

Exactly! Ballroom has been chosen with clear intent because it really plays into the key elements of who Eddie is as well as his upbringing furthering that narrative concept and altogether showing his path to his authentic self - I really love the storytelling of it!

Haha I might’ve gone a little deep into the metaphor but yes the performative nature of ballroom as a reflection on societal expectations is super interesting - especially in relation to Helena and her expectations of Eddie!!!

I am obsessed with the ballroom dancing of it all and did write a couple of posts but would love to hear your thoughts too!!! I mean I got a bit obsessed with the chess parallel to ballroom dance as well - the show is making unhinged choices!!!

Most of these are longer as that’s my preference too.
I wrote one called if you have a dream chase it; you might just end up with a fairytale. But i don’t know that it’s actually any good!
Really should get back to writing - my half published fic and all my other wips keep silently judging me 😬😂

Not a controversial take at all - if they think that EP didn’t have significant buddie in it then they’re watching a different show to me - domestic buddie face time and a massive massive amount of Eddie development all pointing to buddie canon plus a great henisode- it was a wonderful ep imo!!

Exactly - parallel the scenes after the shooting but a happy fun silly version of the bullet proof vests - this time Buck has Eddie with him as he gets dressed. Then at the ball they can’t hide how into each other they are & dance & kiss everyone cheers and screams and then a big emergency happens!

Bottle episode is my no. 1. But I will also accept a Musical episode or a firefighters ball with buddie slow dancing and that’s how everyone finds out they’re together (because we’ve had them in a secret relationship the entire time they’ve been together 😎)
