I've been thinking about this (while rereading Wee Free Men) and you're right. Some people can read those books and just enjoy the humor and the adventure and miss the moral points entirely.

I was just thinking about my ex and her Mom. Years ago, MIL was bankrupt after some terrible business decisions that had put her millions in the hole. My ex was very stressed about how her mother would ever dig out, and I told her, "I DREAM of being so rich that I can have that kind of debt."

I am so undyingly impressed by his accomplishment. If those books were just funny, they'd be great. If they were just sweet, they'd be great. If they just explained fundamental issues about humanity, they'd be great. It's hard to fathom a brain that could combine all those things.

No way of knowing if it's true, but there are a lot of rumors about how he spent a lot of money on plastic surgery to look like the kind of guy who would not need money to get laid, and that included penis enlargement that went horribly wrong. Word is his wang doesn't work.

I know a few conservatives who went MAGA whom I maintain some contact with and at least a couple of them are at the point where they are realizing that the people who told them where this was going back in 2016 were right all along. Fuck them anyway.

It was a lot like that for me, too. I only put the pieces together when my kid got diagnosed. At this point, I don't think I have anything to gain from an official diagnosis for myself, but it gave me a big piece of the puzzle for understanding myself.

I was in my 40s before I realized I was on the spectrum, but it explained a lot about my behavior and who I was attracted to. My favored explanation for the increase in the number of autistics is that we only recently in human history got the capacity for autistics to date other autistics.
