DataTerm lookin ass

A DataTerm computer, from Cyberpunk 2020. It's notable because while it has a weather-shielded screen and keyboard, it has that pebble-stone base that was so emblematic of the 80s.

Another pebble-textured artifact of the 80s: the faux stone trash can. A reaction to 90s postmodern architecture, it eschewed minimum-cost metal or plastic for "stone" made of tiny river pebbles bound with concrete, giving it a tactile sensation; the touch of postmodern whimsy was the lid, which was brightly colored and curved, instead of being a simple hole or our current raised-toss porticullises. It was also heavy as fuck which meant that you could drive a car into it and the car would apologize. Your school probably had one because no kid could break it, your grocery store probably had one because it was cheaper than a safety bollard and about as strong.

I don't even think we can blame the oil/gas companies on this one. they WANT to switch away. They want to stop being realtors with properties that are profitable for a finite time but accrue costs for an indefinite time, especially as each generation keep ratcheting up the size of those costs.
