Just another MAMIL. To be found slowly pedalling around South Oxfordshire. I'm occasionally allowed to leave the county on good behaviour.

Today’s lunchtime β€œescape the laptop” - I took Gretl for a test ride after fitting the mudguards. No issues with the bike but my hands were getting proper pins and needles. Might need some mits with a bit more padding.

It was a tad windy up on Sires Hill (near Didcot).

I do! If I ever move it, I’ll be able to harvest enough parts to make a Shimano group set! πŸ˜€
It might look tidy, but I don’t know where anything is! πŸ˜€
I had a dusty garage floor to contend with!

My self-inflicted comedy f*ckwitery, was that I kept bumping in to the bike and stand, which then tipped over cos it was front-heavy with the back wheel out! Once was was unfortunate, but after the third time I just wanted to find some wine....
They are obviously with all the other things you "put away in a safe place"!
Both?! Oh the horror! πŸ˜±πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€
Time to fit the mudguards for winter on der #Grizl.

And check the brakes ahead of this weekend’s #Audax. Plenty of material left on the pads so they went back in.

Managed to lose, then find, one of those tiny spring retention clips after scouring the garage floor & some salty language! πŸ˜€

I expect to be β€œpulling faces” for most of next Saturday. At least it should scare children and livestock out of my path! πŸ˜€
Ugh, that’s pretty crap to get caught up in so many incidents. Hope you manage to re-set and do the ride.

We returned south from Teeside yesterday. No big incidents but the standard of driving was very β€œMario Kart”. Driving in this country really sucks.
That’s cheered me up no end! πŸ˜‚

I’ll be taking all the descents real steady - roads will be about sketchy with all the leaf mulch everywhere.
I’ve never done it, thank you for bringing it to my attention…I think! πŸ˜€
I signed-up at the last minute for Edwin's "Henley Hilly Hundred" #Audax for Saturday 8th Nov. I've just looked at route/climbs and having feelings of "buyer's regret" 🀣 Those climbs are gonna be a real test, especially as I haven't spent much time on the bike of late. But #NoBacksies πŸ˜€

Getting your money’s worth out of those pads! πŸ‘
I enjoy seeing all the different set-ups too. The options these days are endless! πŸ‘
Hi. It’s a GT Grade (the 2020 alloy base model). It’s a gravel bike, with 43mm wide tyres, but doubles up as my Audax machine, hence the aero bars.
The roads around South Oxfordshire are so rubbish it’s worth having some wide rubber πŸ‘
Not sure if it’s a fast bike with me turning the pedals though! πŸ˜€
Escape the laptop - Friday edition: lots of lovely leaves, with a good mix of crunchy/squelchy.

Not fast, but good for the soul. And managed to miss the rain.

I’m currently manoeuvring to get time to do one of Edwin’s rides next month. I suck at climbing, so I really should get on with it and do the Hilly 100!
I don’t think anyone would miss out, I mean the team that staff the church start/finish point are just great!
Edwin’s post-ride veg curries are πŸ‘Œ after miles in the saddle!
I’ve recently washed and re-proofed my Berghouse coat with Nikwax. I used their wash beforehand too.
Just got back in from a very wet walk and the water bobbling nicely on the material πŸ‘
Might be worth a try?
Nah, I think that’s a gift worth keeping! πŸ˜€
Well done! πŸ‘ I’ve never walked such a distance but it sounds like quite an achievement!

If you apply the Owen logic you need to do a 200 Audax tomorrow! πŸ˜€
