I played Yaiba once out of pure curiosity, and I can confirm it is, in fact, bad. Now that 4 is out, we never have to think about this failed attempt at a spinoff by Keiji Inafune ever again.

With the release of Ninja Gaiden 4, I want it to be known that until recently the last Ninja Gaiden thing we had was this culmination of media trends from 2007 - 2014 (comic book aesthetics and zombies) and shitty hack and slash tropes (hour long stages and nothingburger gameplay).

I first saw this image on the Anime Bath Scene Wiki a few years ago but never saw it again since it seemed to be removed. Lucky me, that experience was what led to me finding it again.

I directly emailed the wiki owner and thankfully she had the image on hand.

Sonic and The Secret Rings and it isn’t even close. I have beef with this game from my childhood. It took me months (I think a year) to beat the game and the second to last boss and then I never finished the final boss. Ever.

This experience has sat in my mind for nearly a decade.
