Ryoji nods at Nyx's words and turns to his sisters with a grin.

“Oh, sorry! Didn’t mean to startle you. You not a hugs person?”

Nemuru furrows their brow at Nyx’s words.

“Should we ask…?”

Their hand rests on their chest. Tears brim in their eyes.

“They love you. So much that it hurts. And neither of us want to hurt you.”

That grief and despair, so familiar, aches in their chest. Maybe self loathing is a better word for it.

“I know that’s true, but I still can’t let you go. I’m too damn selfish, and… I want to be the person that can make you happy.”

They stroke her hair with a pained expression on their face.

“I’ve always been the problem, Strix. I’m not good for you Strix. Not for you, this family, or anyone.”

Their throat trembles as they speak.

Kintsugi closes their eyes and rests a hand on Strix’s cheek.

“I know. I’ll do everything I can to make things work, but I don’t want to drag you down with me. I want you to be happy, whatever that looks like.”

Philotes smiles and wraps an arm around Nemesis.

“It’s okay! We have plenty of time to get to know each other.”

Meanwhile, Ryoji furrows his brow and nods. He returns Nyx’s words with a whisper.

“Seems that way. But she doesn’t seem hostile.”

“I never thought I’d feel this way— feel anything but hurt and anger. Even if this doesn’t last forever, I’m happy that we’re here now.”

Kintsugi stares at Strix for a moment and then kisses her.

“… Then I would have had the experience of loving you, and that would be enough.”

They lean their forehead on hers.

"So you're also new to the family huh? That makes me feel a little less lonely."

She taps her cheek.

"I guess technically you're my big sister? So I'll be counting on you~"

Ryoji smiles warmly.

"Great! Let me see what we've got here..."

He starts searching for restaurants on the way to their hotel. Nemuru leans in with him, occasionally adding their own input. While they figure that out, Philotes turns her attention to Nemesis.

"Hey. It's okay to worry. I'm here to listen."

Kintsugi intertwines their fingers with her hair.

"If you'd be happier without me, then... that's okay. But until you decide that, I'm not going anywhere."

Kintsugi pulls Strix close and pets her hair gently around her horns.

“It doesn’t matter. We’re here now. We can make this work.”
