It is a good thing that Trump is obsessed with getting the Nobel Peace Prize.
It is a stupid reason to help people, but it's a reason.

Gaza is NOT the middle east.

The obvious contrast is with Africa.
When Europeans went to Africa the Europeans got sick.
When Europeans went to America the Americans got sick.
It is hard to overstate the importance of infectious disease in history.

Conservatives fundamentally assume EVERYTHING is run top down.
Even 'No Kings' rallies.
They simply can't imagine genuine grass roots movements.

But, it is also clear they will eventually be released.

Many (most?) Democratic politicians are still playing by the old rules. Negotiation, compromise, horse trading.
I very much wish we still lived in that world.
Trump takes whatever he can today, and will take whatever he can tomorrow.

Fences and landscaping are often designed to discourage foot traffic.
I think there are two reasons for this:
1. The realization that mixing cars and pedestrians is dangerous, so eliminate pedestrians.
2. The assumption that pedestrians are trouble. Juveniles, the poor etc.

I'm skeptical.
But it is true that many Republicans only support Trump out of self interest.
If his poll numbers continue to drop and as the end of his term stops seeming like the distant future, some will jump ship.

In my travels, the most important cultural divide is urban/suburban/rural. I think this has become more so in my lifetime.
