We had a great European Symposium for Insect Taste and Olfaction, ESITO, on Sardinia where I was invited to talk about evolutionary aspects. This was how spiders entered an insect meeting 😉.🕷🧪
#SilkeSachse and #MarkusKnaden for organizing it!
Lovely decorated cream cake especially made for the social dinner of the symposium. The logo of the symposium was printed on marzipan.
It was a great pleasure giving the last plenary lecture! Thank you @edrc2025.bsky.social for organizing a fantastic conference in Alicante! 🪰☀️ See you all at EDRC 2027 in Bonn!
It was an incredible week at ESITO 2025 in Sardinia filled with exciting science, vibrant discussions in a pleasant atmosphere! 🪰🐝🐜🌴🌊
Huge thanks to all participants! Hope you all have a safe trip home! See you in 2027!

New research from @danielkronauer.bsky.social's lab in @pnas.org sheds light on how a young ant’s future is determined by genetics and the environment, finding that genes not only influence size, they change what a given size means for the colony. #RockefellerScience
How ant queens are made - News
Daniel Kronauer’s research on an unusual ant species illuminates the biochemistry and genetics behind complex social behavior—and potentially offers clues to the evolution of our own social brains.
