Best practices tend to differ for independent narrators, but many of them said this as well, so I'm basically running on what I interpreted as the majority opinion. Very much still learning and sorting through good/bad advice. It's been hard doing so with internet alone.

So from what I can tell, companies like ACX and Findaway Voices reject files altered with these, because it always degrades the audio to some degree. It seems like a best practice in companies, at least, and I'd like to get as close to corpo standards as possible.

I've been warned away from things like this for audiobook narration specifically, though they work great for other stuff.

I need to sound dampen my space better and get my technique down, is all. Will get better with practice.

Gaining a deep respect for audio engineers because holy heck editing out mouth noises from an audiobook is tedious.

I really need to work on not sounding like a movie monster devouring its prey while speaking.

It's audiobook-style recording, so gotta be a bit meticulous. I'm always surprised by how noise removing stuff messes up the quality and makes recordings from different sessions sound inconsistent. I'll just have to wait to rerecord until tonight.

It happened again. Halfway through recording someone starting mowing the lawn. When that was over, the renovators started working on flipping a nearby apartment.

I have 20 minutes of recording to go! 20 minutes!
