The tomboy quickly turned her body, bringing her blade up to parry Kagura's own attack. Her blade was knocked to the side, but it didn't leave her hand.
She grimaced slightly, her sword arm protesting in pain as she defiantly raised it back in a defensive pose.
"Not bad. Some kind of magic?"

Kagura moved to avoid that hit, retaliating with a swing of her own hand. It’d hurt more than a gentle prod if it touched Ryuko.
More like being smacked with a steel bat, Kagura was near untouchable when fought head on.
But she did have a weakness, one Ryuko would need to learn.

Ryuko dashed forward, aiming a shallow jab towards her opponent. Even if it landed it would be hardly more than a gentle prod, clearly a feint attack for Ryuko to judge the quality of her sparring partner's defenses.
The focus in her eyes was clear, she was ready to parry Kagura's reprisal...

Kagura’s hand had a red glow, she planned to only use a basic enhancement for this fight.
She wanted to keep things mostly even, though she didn’t have the means to pay if she actually did lose this match.

Ryuko nodded and drew her blade, holding it backwards so she'd only be using the blunt side for fighting.
"Some people don't get the difference between a friendly match and a fight to the death. Glad you're not one of those people though."
She smiled, a hand on her hip.

Ryuko's wide eyes blinked a few times, her mind struggling to register what had just happened. After a few moments she caught her breath, glancing over at Kagura.
"Y-yeah, this works. J-just promise not to teleport me to the sun and leave me there, yeah?"
