For what it’s worth, this post got me to buy A Gathering of Ravens. Best of luck finding the right pace! 💙📚
That would be 7 books deep and I joined his Patreon to read his early draft of Book 8. It is a real skill to write this level of funny, irreverent and gory action, mixed with real human emotion and companionship… all with a secondary protagonist who is a talking cat named Princess Donut.
For all you 💙📚🪐 folks out there who haven’t explored indie darling @mattdinniman.bsky.social’s series Dungeon Crawler Carl series… whoo boy. It’s not for everybody, but if it’s for you it’ll really be for you. I’m 6 books deep all of a sudden.
Welp, this definitely took me down a rabbit hole! I’m on book 6!
Well #booksky, Blood Over Bright Haven was even better than The Sword of Kaigen. M.L. Wang is growing as an author. It was more polished, had better pacing. No unnecessary backdoor pilots. Just a great stand alone book. Now I think I need something lighter and fun. Any recommendations? 💙📚🪐
Hey #bookfriends. Sword of Kaigen is an epic read 💙📚🪐 but it’s a book that took two attempts before it clicked for me. Some uneven pacing at the start but first rate action once it kicks off. It’s also a book I would have passed on if I’d known its plot. I’m glad I didn’t.
I don’t think I was fully prepared for this book.
It’s finally time to read a legacy booktok recommendation, The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang. I want to finish it before I start Blood Over Bright Haven, which was totally a #booksky reco. 💙📚
Well, I’ve achieved all of my #booksky goals.
#booksky is crushing it! 2/2 on great books I’ve found this year and already a host of other suggestions. @wiswell.bsky.social’s Someone You Can Build a Nest In is something special. A wonderful monster love story from the monster’s POV. 💙📚
Who is a character in a book whose name you mispronounced in your head? I read Shea Ohmsford from @terrybrooks.bsky.social’s Sword of Shannara as “She-ah” for years. Until I heard my cousin say it out loud as “Shay” like Shea Stadium. 💙📚
It is almost as if everyone is devastatingly handsome.
Sold. What a great title!
Okay, I just finished reading my first book discovered on #booksky. Now I need my next one. Any recommendations for indie or alt pub authors? I read a wide selection of genre fiction, but am in the mood for smart fantasy writing. Hit me up! 🙏🏻📚
I’ve been listening to it on my walks today. It is crushingly cold outside, but it helps to have a nice voice and story in my ear. Congratulations on the nomination. Well deserved!
I do not understand the audio book / physical book divide at all. At the end of the day, I’m just pro book. Read, listen, enjoy, learn. Whatever works for you!
I’m going to try and read as many indie authors as I can this year. Hoping to get most of my fiction reads from this community.
Reading helps lower my anxiety in a way watching TV doesn’t. I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’… #books #booksky
I’m starting my first book I came across on #booksky. “Someone You Can Build a Nest In” by @wiswell.bsky.social. Really loving this community!
I’ve been thinking about the books that got me into reading and they were all fantasy. The Hobbit might have been an inflection point for me. I went from a struggling non-reader to an unstoppable devourer of books. What books changed your life? #booksky #books
Just saw this and decided to pick up your first book. Looks great!
If she likes dragons and you secretly want her to learn about the Napoleonic Wars, consider Temeraire by Naomi Novik. It is more general audience alternative history than YA, but it’s in that reading level. Lots of derring-do… with dragons. www.goodreads.com/book/show/58...

I wish I had known about Grim Oak before. Looks like the Sword and Elfstones of Shannara limited editions are sold out. Those books opened my eyes to a whole new world of fantasy as a kid. Thank you!
