Here for a week just reacting to stuff so it's time for an intro post.

Retired and fine with it. Studied and taught psychology at several German universities. Never lost interest in my fellow human beings. I‘m into books, movies, silly stuff, food. I enjoy viewpoints that differ from my own.

Mocking dictators has always been an important element in the fight for democracy. In the case of the inflatable resistance it also makes it hard for the GOP and FOX to paint them as 'threatening'.

There are several ways to write the name of that principle. Originator was Wilhelm von Ockham (1288–1347).

The narrative was that she was 'pro-genocide'. That was a false narrative that the Muslim community among others fell for. I was surprised about how short their memory was of Trump's first presidency when he wanted to close the nation to Muslims. They handed him his victory.

It is like a science report - you state the results and then you interpret so that everyone can check your interpretation in view of the facts.
The US media for the most part have failed at both of these steps - they do not report the full picture and they cowardly shy away from what it means.

The fairness of journalism resides in an unbiased reporting of the facts. This is the stage where neutrality is of the essence. Do not leave anything out, do not falsify. But the second step for responsible journalism is to make sense to the audience about the facts that were being reported.

Yeah, though when one explanation suffices Ockham's razor comes into play.

Who is pontificating? This is about false narratives that played a part in the genocide. Like the false narrative that not voting for Harris improved the chances for the Palestinians, while it did the opposite.

For a malignant narcissist like him taking a life is the ultimate power-high.

There are no human 'races' in the biological nomenclature, true. But it is a very real concept for people who describe themselves and others in these terms (Unless you live in a society where you mostly meet people who look more or less like you, then it doesn't figure in your everyday life).

Yes, Netanyahu has crossed almost every red line. And the US government did not stop him. Is it malicious intent or weakness? I still say weakness/stupidity.

I can only reiterate the start of this discussion - it was not whether Biden was complicit in the genocide, but whether that was his explicit political aim.

The effect is the same, of course. Yet the question whether he was deluded and weak or a homicidal maniac seems to me of significance.

Yes, the Balfour Declaration started this mess. But that was in the past. I am wary of historical claims that do not take into account that a lot of time has passed and new generations have appeared. Like Taiwan. Or Crimea.

We do not differ in our evaluation of the Gaza policy of Biden. What we differ in is in what he may have wanted. I still find it credible that he wanted a 2-state-solution:

The interesting thing in this article are the justifications the US gave for their decision to veto this (I cannot say if these reasonings were genuine). Yet the appearance mattered indeed and by their veto they saved Netanyahu from being pressured.

No? Well the best way to clear him from this suspicion would be to release the Epstein Files, I suppose.
sheethaduskrunner.bsky.social
Actually - no. The most they lean left to are social democracies - a very different thing from socialists.

If they truly believed that the No-Kings-protestors were in it for the money, the simplest thing they could do was to pay them even more for not showing up.

But they do not even attempt that.

Maybe a good time for a reminder that in Germany the AFD's youth organization was investigated, deemed unconstitutional because of their pro-Nazi statements and behavior and banned.

Trump is wholly transactional - see Qatar and the Saudis. If Israel pays him enough, he will support them in anything. And of course he likes autocrats, they give credibility to his own ambitions.

He was in the company of many nations' leaders that do not go the whole nine yards on Netanyahu's being wanted for war crimes. Likely not because they want the genocide, but because opposing Israel is still a taboo 90 years after the beginning of the Holocaust.

Where do EU countries stand on ICC’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu?
The International Criminal Court's (ICC) arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu continues to draw mixed and often ambiguous reactions from European officials.

I think Netanyahu would have broken the deal, even if he had signed it (which is no reason for not trying to get him to sign it).
I see no chance for peace until Netanyahu is ousted by the Israeli people and loses his grip on power.
