FWIW, at least part of the blame was on the attempt to label it as "racist" to even think it might be possible that a virus that appeared next to a lab that works on those viruses might have come from that lab. That's going to create a backlash.

Liberalism needs to be romanticized again. You're not going to win people over with dry arguments about economics, material conditions, etc.

You need to make people feel *good* about liberalism; optimally, you need to make pursuing it feel like a higher calling.
