hot take of the morning:
Final Fantasy XIV lost some of it's magic and charm when it stopped making job specific quests and instead went into "role" quests because I just don't think they're great and I don't think anyone feels like their class matters anymore. Which fine, but it sucks.

She's done! My Hornet piece is done!

I did, add more of my style to her but overall I think it came out great. I also tried to make her a bit sexy since in game it is hinted that she's an attractive woman.

Poor girl has to smack some pervs in game.

All of this to say... Beautiful game. I hope the gameplay gets a bit more interesting because the enemies while frequent are not difficult to beat, and the level design makes the time I do die a chore to navigate.

I'm hoping it finds its feet the further I go.
Like they played Bloodborne and wanted to do the same, but didn't understand what made it work.

For example, fromsoft games are known for their "guy hiding in the corner" bit. But it works because they use it deliberately, sparingly. Lies of P is throwing corner guys at me every chance it can.
I felt the game respected the time I was dedicating to it by ensuring the levels I would retred a hundred times were as finely crafted as they could be.

In Lies of P, while the world is beautiful, so far (I'm only about 3 hours in) the level design feels confused.
The first time I played Bloodborne I died more in the starting area of Yharnam than I did anywhere else.

I got to know those streets, alleys, shortcuts so well I could play with my eyes closed. But I never got bored, and more importantly I never got lost.
Lies of P is on PSN+ so I'm finally able to give it a go.

I have some thoughts. It's not exactly a critique of the game itself but instead of what I see happen often in soulslikes.

It's that the world in fromsoft games is a character itself.
