He stopped at my door and looked me in the eye, and I’ll never, ever forget this. I repeated it recently. He said, “Jim, our job is to protect empathy at all costs, and to live groovy lives.”

If you have never been to a protest before, and you’re nervous about going to no Kings, but you wanna go, comment below with your concerns.

And if you’ve protested, read the comments, and if you find one that you can alleviate their concern, reply.

Hopefully this will get more people to attend!

I designed a cover for Samuel Delany's DHALGREN because the cover of the edition I'm reading is boring.
Silhouette of a guy sitting on a building, writing, in front of a giant red sun, with a glowing beast thing rising up from him.

It's hard to make a good fantasy movie! The casting director for Harry Potter deserves a lot of the credit for finding child actors who could carry a film. And Chris Columbus gets a lot of grief from film snobs, but directing children is a rare skill and he's got it.

They're too young to know what they're doing until they're too old to know what they're doing.

This is the one that came out the way I liked.

It's true that the Republican party has racist/sexist/queerphobic for a long time, and it's also true that the party being led by open and proud fascists is a new and worsening development. Both things can be true!
shaenon.bsky.social
We either went fascist or hate fascism with the heat of a thousand menopauses, no in between

This cover is also technically accurate to the events of the book but it is...not the right vibe
A cutely minimalist cover illustration featuring a bridge and two crescent moons. I'm not seeing the bisexual orgies, is my first note.

Fellow white ladies, this is how you use your Karen powers for good.

"What do you have to say about the capitulation that you participated in?"

Cory Booker clearly wasn't expecting the pushback he got from @ivehaditpodcast.bsky.social

That's the decent one because at least it shows a thing that happens in the book, there is indeed a big red sun

It'd be faster to list the revolutions that *didn't* start over food

We've got this whole hellcountry here because we got mad about a tax on tea, and we don't even like tea

Any time I read a novel I want to a) design a cover and b) adapt it into prestige television. There's been like one decent cover for Delaney's Dhalgren, ever.

"The CNN-POLITICO Grill is the ultimate convention destination at the heart of all the action...As THE authority covering politics, policy and power, POLITICO will host news making and thought-provoking conversations about the changing power landscape in Washington and around the country."
In a separate conversation, Giunta shared that his flight to Charleston, South Carolina, landed safely. Then, he offered some advice for his fellow Young Republicans.

“If your pilot is a she and she looks ten shades darker than someone from Sicily, just end it there. Scream the no no word,” Giunta wrote.

Nah, it's fine, they're just state senators and the heads of Young Republican committees and such.

Also: sub construction is interconnected with a lot of departments and contractors nationwide. This is an example of how huge, poorly-planned cuts in research can have unexpected consequences.

You cut NASA because you don't care about space, now you're behind on nuclear engines. For example.

Dang, this was my dad's line of work for 30 years. The U.S. dominated in subs for so long, and had relatively little use for them, that I understand how we got complacent.

A lot of comments on Mars rovers or Moon landings, but it's important to remember that the planet NASA studies most is Earth. This is less about cutting flashy things like moonwalks and more about keeping communities in the dark on climate, weather, agriculture, pollution, natural hazards, and more.

I didn't know he had an entire after-school special!
